Ancel, other devs protest Rayman Legends delay

Even Michel Ancel is upset about Rayman Legends’ delay. The Rayman creator has been seen with other dev team staffers in photos protesting Ubisoft’s decision to push back the game.
A banner depicted in snapshots includes the words “Release Rayman. Support Ubisoft Montpelier.” Rayman’s speech bubble says “SVP” – which is “please” in English – and the character himself is crying.
Rayman Legends’ delay on Wii U was announced last week. The game is essentially done, but it won’t be hitting Nintendo’s console until early September so that work on newly announced PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 versions can be completed. Ubisoft wishes to release all three editions of Rayman Legends simultaneously in order to avoid two separate launches.

Wow, can you imagine Miyamoto doing that for a Nintendo game? This is crazy – good for Michel!! I hope they DO release it soon as a result of this outcry!

That is so cool the team is with the fans
I’m fairly certain the world can handle two launches. Ubi Soft… I’ve had a pretty high opinion of them until this past month. Now they just seem, well, like a business wanting to make as much money as possible with the fan happiness coming in a distant second.

Michel Ancel is, and always has been, the man. Props to the development team!

well, i just hope their parent studio decides to go ahead and release the game. coz really the 7 months or so delay will only hurt them. not so much with people who decided to skip this in lieu of the delay, but mostly because their planned September launch is simply suicide, going head-to-head with a lot of big name games like GTA V and whatever Nintendo and other publishers are gonna be releasing during that timeframe. i’m pretty sure the devs have pretty much similar belief about the proposed September release.
and if its true that the PS4 and/or Xbox720 will be launching before the year ends, then people will most likely wait out for those rather than get them any game on PS3 and/or Xbox360.

* well, i just hope their parent studio decides to go ahead and release the game.
– release the game, either the original scheduled date, or possibly a more acceptable release date some time till end of March.

Being a first-party developer, Miyamoto would never have this sort of problem with the delay being due to a simultaneous multi-platform release. Plus, people at Nintendo actually listen to Miyamoto most of the time. You have to wonder what kind of company Ubisoft is if Rayman Legend’s creator does not have much of a say in the game’s release date.
