Here’s a Podcast – Episode 31!
March 6th, 2013 Posted in Features, Podcast, Posted by Austin
Another solid show from the gang this week, and a great new format for lists– now with direct quotes from you guys seamlessly integrated in! The list this week is all about Mario Kart and the best and worst of the series; the news is normal, the what we played is normal, and everything else is normal. Enjoy!
Something was being goofy with the uploader last night, so unfortunately this is getting to you about 12 hours late. No worries, though! We’ve got plenty more features coming at you later tonight…

You haven’t played Returns? Damn, you a foo’!

You guys’ lack of faith in Double Dash saddens me.

Nintendo want’s to stop Pirates, and the new Assassins Creed game is about pirates, no wonder Ubisoft delayed Rayman Legends, Nintendo is not happy with them

I’m surprised Wii placed so high. In my opinion, it’s frustratingly unfair and it’s ugly.

@Quirk: It’s not MY lack of faith in Double Dash. I knew it would win! And yea, Wii shouldn’t have been so high. I still say 7 is the perfect blend of fairness/unfairness.
@pie: Didn’t think about that. That’s actually a little funny.

I’m really enjoying 7. It’s pretty balanced and the online is thrilling, but I feel like the Bullet Bill and Blooper have brought down each game they’ve been in (I’m sure many disagree with me on that). It’s really good, but it’s not quite as fun for me as DD, for whatever reason. If DD had online, I’d never need another Mariokart.

Any chance you can post the Mario Kart results for people who don’t want to listen to the podcast?

@thomas why don’t you want to here the podcast? it’s good
i love all three double dash, MK7 and wii. i guess because when i was young i didn’t know what games to get on my system and i bought the obvious games.
By Austin on Mar 3, 2013
@thomas: Yea, I’ve just been lazy about that. I’ll try and remember to do it next week!

It goes
7. Super Circuit
6. Original
5. 64
4. DS
3. 7
2. Wii
1. Double Dash
If I remember correctly
Edit:
For a fun comparison, Gamerankings rank them like this
7. Wii
6. 64
5. 7
4. Double Dash
3. DS
2. Super Circuit
1. Original

Pie, you are a gentleman and a scholar. That’s an interesting idea, too: Comparing your guys’ results with other websites…

I voted for Mario Kart DS. Like I said in the poll, I feel that the lack of a "Vs." mode in 7 and Wii was a huge oversight. I loved DS’ Mission mode as well.

Why Super Circuit so low? D: Apart from 7 this was my fave handheld MK!
By Patrick on Mar 4, 2013
All of the handheld Mario Kart games are significantly better than the home console ones. Super Mario Kart is alright, too.
I think Wii is the worst one, if we ignore the arcade games (which we already are).

Thanks, pie! I voted for Double Dash but personally I also found DS to be a ton of fun (Missions!). The Wii version’s rubber banding is the main reason I never even bought it. It’s still fun, it’s hard to mess up such a winning-formula, but the less it becomes about skill and the more about luck, the less I’m enjoying the series.
