Rumor: Nintendo struggling with Wii MotionPlus development
March 7th, 2009 Posted in Posted by Valay, Rumors, WiiInitially, Nintendo’s Wii MotionPlus was scheduled to launch in Spring, but that no longer seems to be the case. Nintendo has even failed to mention it in some of their latest press releases, which does bring up some suspicion regarding the peripheral’s status. According to IGN’s Matt Casamassina, Nintendo has been having a few issues with Wii MotionPlus.
“When I got wind that the DSi announcement which turned out to be pretty accurate…At the same time I heard that Nintendo was internally struggling with Wii MotionPlus and trying to figure out a few hiccups…And that they were going to delay the release of it all the way past June. And also Wii Sports Resort which would be like an eight game title, it would have eight games in it, not ten, and that would also be delayed a little bit…The only thing I got was vague and was like, ‘Oh, they’re having some hiccups in development.’” – Matt Casamassina, Nintendo Voice Chat podcast 39

I wonder if it’s a technical issue or mass producing issue? Or perhaps even a cost issue?

I’m sure their prototype did work great, but when things get mass produced who knows what happens.
