Family organization upset with Nintendo over MadWorld

March 10th, 2009 Posted in News, Posted by Valay, Wii

Just like all other violent games, with the release of MadWorld, criticism about the game’s violence was certainly inevitable. The The National Institute on Media and the Family sent out a statement today expressing their disappointment with Nintendo over the release of SEGA’s new Wii title.

“[Nintendo has] shed its ‘family friendly’ reputation with MadWorld’s release. The release of MadWorld for the Wii brings violent videogames to a once family-friendly platform. In MadWorld, gamers use the Wii Remote to make the necessary physical actions to chainsaw an opponent in half, impale an enemy with a signpost or decapitate a victim with a golf club. MadWorld is another reminder that parents need to make sure they watch what their kids watch and play what their kids play. In the past, the Wii has successfully sold itself as being the gaming console for the entire family and a way to bring family-game nights back into people’s living rooms. Unfortunately, Nintendo opened its doors to the violent videogame genre. The National Institute on Media and the Family hopes that Nintendo does not lose sight of its initial audience and continues to offer quality, family-friendly games.” – Dr. David Walsh, president of the National Institute on Media and the Family/NIMF press release

FFS!!! If you don’t wanna play it or don’t want your kids play it, steer clear of it!!

Jesus christ! Not everyone is the same so how about leaving the game alone so people who want to play games like this can enjoy it!

I hate people like these who try to ruin it for everyone else!!

um…so just don’t buy the game then? how complicated can that be? haha, wow, people nowadays take things way too far. sue that, cry about that, blame someone about that, all in all, weak minded people.

wowo this is great news! I think nintendo shed it’s family friendly image with manhunt 2! I’m a older veteran and I welcome mature themed games I need something to play as well.

And here come the angry villagers with their torches and pickforks, I meen this trend is getting old, people hear about something violent on Nintendo and they go crazy, imagine if these same people complained about movies lol, people get a life and watch your children, that is all you have 2 do.

That`s why the game has that freakin` huge M for Mature on the cover, so kids can`t buy it!
What`s the matter with these people?

Where did they find a copy? I couldnt find one lol…. Guess they bought them all just so they could b**** about it.

Wow, ridiculous. Just don’t buy the game for your kids or your grandparents who are still only playing wii sports.

Just a warning, but this will be the first of many of these organizations to do this. Obviously these people don’t follow videogames very well, or else they would have complained about COD, No more heroes, resident evil 4, and so on. Oh well, lets piss em off even more by supporting MADWORLD Sales, go buy your copy today!

These have got to be some of the worst people in the world. Look out everybody the first violent game EVER is loose!!! If you’re really THAT worried about it go buy Imagine:babysitter for your pussified little brood and let the rest of us(who outnumber you) play our games.

Damn right. Eveyone should go out and pick up Madworld, No More Heroes, Overkill, etc., not only to piss them off, but to get more games like these. These morons need to learn that not everyone likes games about fanciful unicorns and babieZ brandishing maraccas.

Did they just say that nintendo’s main audience was for family friendly games. Nintendo has always been the hard-core game company until the wii.
