Rumor: Link, Kid Icarus, and Ice Climbers to appear at GDC 2009

The latest buzz surrounding GDC 2009 is that three (four, technically) Nintendo characters will be at this year’s conference this year. The rumor specifically involves Link, Kid Icarus, and the Ice Climbers. Games wouldn’t necessarily be shown – hints to future projects, listing of the characters, or possibly more would be shared.

I do want to stress that this rumor should be taken with a huge grain of salt. In the past, some rumors have proved to be valid but in this case it’s really unclear. I would expect Nintendo to do something like this at E3, but not really GDC…Who knows. We’ll have to just wait and see. Just remember to have a bit of skepticism in mind and don’t set yourselves up for disappointment!

    I can only hope for Kid Icarus maybe even a surprise like Eternal Darkness 2 courtesy of Silicon Knights

    I personally like to see Eternal Darkness 1 as part of the New Play Control series.

    I won’t believe about Kid Icarus until I see it as he is rumored at almost every event.

    Now Ice Climbers is likely with that new ESRB posting ,or whatever for Rock n’ Roll Climbers.

    I remember hearing awhile back that Silicon Knights was working on a hooror title only for Wii. Hopefully Eternal Darkness 2.

    Dude Sweet. I think maybe just maybe the ice climbers become rock climbers that just maybe those other things are true. And legend of zelda oh i expect this year to include one either for ds or wii i expect one.

    I doubt a DS version of Zelda is going to happen since the last one was on DS, Wii needs a Zelda built from the ground up for it so its due !

    They’ve mentioned a couple times that the Zelda and Galaxy teams are working on new games. It’s been a couple years since Zelda, so maybe. Big maybe. I honestly doubt the Kid Icarus thing. Maybe I’m just jaded from hoping and expecting to see it just to get Wii music instead. Eterenal Darkness 2 is probly more likely.

    A new galaxy or mario game on the wii again? 2 marios on the wii? Well seeing as this time nintendo is really keen on making it stay put for a big time we could see that happening.

    I’m not very skeptical about any of the above not being real.

    Looking at how successful The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Party 8, and Mario Strikers Charged have been it only stands to reason that Link and the other characters would make an appearance either GDC 2009 or E3 2009.

    Personally I really hope that a new Zelda game will be released to both the Wii and DS. I also have great expectations for another Mario Party game as time is long overdue for Mario Party 9. Besides many internet sites have spreading rumors that Mario Party 9 will be released either at the end of this year or early next year.

    I’ve also read that Super Mario Galaxy 2 is under development and scheduled to be released sometime late next year as well.

    The comment above was not me, but anyway it is time Nintendo started pulling characters out of the vault again, I wouldn’t expect this many at once though, and yes there will be a Wii version of Zelda and prob another Mario since both teams are working, but new characters and some of these older onces could fill the gaps !
