Miyamoto reassures gamers that Mario and Zelda are coming

April 1st, 2009 Posted in General Nintendo, News, Posted by Valay

Since last E3, Nintendo has said that more Mario and Zelda games are in development and therefore can be expected in the future. Speaking with Japanese magazine Famitsu, Shigeru Miyamoto has reiterated the same message.

“I want to make games that are intuitively fun and haven’t been done before; games that make you enjoy owning a DS and glad there’s a Wii in your home. From that perspective, I think we need more ‘clutch’ games like that. We’re making Mario and Zelda too, of course, so don’t worry.”

Miyamoto doesn’t make it clear on whether or not he was referring to The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks or a new game for Wii. However, it would be pretty safe to say that a Zelda title for Nintendo’s console is in development as well.

Well you should go out and buy the new DSi then :) here’s your incentive. Zelda is really good on DS.

i bought a ds(the big, bulky one) when it first launched, but sold it after a year and a half so now there’s another reason for me to pick up a dsi. i sold the system before phantom glass came out so i should check that game out too, but im more excited for phantasy star online for the dsi, whenever that comes out in the states.

Anyone who doesn’t have a DS should definitely purchase the DSi. I don’t know how I’d live without my DS…:P

I sure hope that at this years E3 there will be an unveiling of the much talk and rumored Super Mario Galaxy sequel. I also hope that a Super Mario Galaxy spin-off will be unveiled for the DSi.

I feel that we really need more 3D Mario, Zelda and Starfox games on the DS platform.

We’ve already had Mario Hoops, Super Mario 64 DS, Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and now Zelda: Spirit Tracks. There will also be Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympics later this year.

Personally I was disappointed with the fact that the Mario Hoops game did not feature Wi-Fi online multiplayer gameplay and I hope that there will be a Mario Hoops 3 on 3 sequel on the DS now that we’ve got the DSi. It would also be nice if we had a Mario Strikers title on the DS.

I’m also looking forward to Mario Party 9 and I hope it will be revealed at this years E3 along with another Mario Party DS game that utilizes online multiplayer gameplay via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. I’m not sure if we’ll see another Animal Crossing title for the DS for a while, but it would be nice if we did see a new Animal Crossing game on the DS that is a cross-platform title like FFCC: Echoes of Time that would allow DS owenrs to interact with those who own Animal Crossing: City Folk.
