Capcom clears up Okami Wii sales confusion
April 4th, 2009 Posted in News, Posted by Valay, Wii“It is moderately successful and has exceeded forecast (slightly, not by some rediculous amount). That is doing well. Did it do a million or a half million units worldwide? Of course not. But it’s still a moderate success because of the issues I called out earlier (game quality/managed scope). I’m not sure what else to tell you. No, expectations haven’t changed. I don’t think Colin’s statement contradicts mine (though it is a bit more rose colored).” – Christian Svensson, Corporate Officer/VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development
So…It looks as though Okami did well, but not anything that made anyone at Capcom jump out of their seats.

If they had more advertising it would have done a lot better!
Excellent game that hardly anyone knows about.
Better than Twilight Princess in my opinion!

Gag order on all executives at Capcom.
Don’t give us excuses on a title you failed to capitalize on yet deserving of actually existing, then give us a mediocre game i.e Chop Til’ Ya Drop! that was heavily marketed.
Get your priorities right Capcom or don’t bother at all.

Yeah, I bet it flopped. You’d think a game like this would sell well on a console that has sold around 140 million. But this game is for the hardcore which is made up of only a small amount of gamers. I think the only way forward for games like this, is not sell them for over £20. It’s the same situation with them pick-up and play SEGA games, gamers are not prepared to pay over £20 for them which is why most flop. People look and think £40 isn’t worth it. If they go from £40 to £20, people think they’ve been reduced because they’re crap so they won’t buy.
