SEGA: MadWorld sales encouraging, House of the Dead doing well

April 6th, 2009 Posted in News, Posted by Valay, Wii

It appears as though the both MadWorld and House of the Dead: Overkill may be performing better than originally anticipated. Overkill sold just 45,000 units in February according to NPD numbers and MadWorld was absent from various sales charts, leading many to believe that both games were falling short. However, Sean Ratcliffe, vice president of marketing at Sega of America, has confirmed otherwise.

“House of the Dead has done very well and has absolutely met our expectations. The first set of data for Mad World is very encouraging, as well…If it resonates with the audience, yes, we absolutely want to make that into a franchise [MadWorld]. I think it’s unique, and there are many aspects of that game which are sort of pushing boundaries. And it’s just great fun.”

Madworld was awesome. House of the Dead on the otherhand, a 3 hour rail shooter ….. maybe when it drops to 20$ I’ll bite. I know it has a “lot” of replay value, but the last game that I enjoyed enough for a second playthrough was Ocarina of Time … and the second playthrough was just a few months ago.
