Nintendo “have to focus on the hardcore” at E3, says Pachter

May 16th, 2009 Posted in News, Posted by Valay, Wii

Perhaps after Nintendo’s upcoming conference in June, people can finally begin to move on from the mess that was their E3 2008 performance. While it would be difficult to argue that Nintendo greatly emphasized on the casual crowd last year, Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter’s believes that Nintendo must appease the hardcore this time around.

“Last year, they focused on Wii Music, and this year, they have to focus on the hardcore. It’s been three years since the last Zelda game, and two years since Mario, so they have a lot to work with. Maybe something from the distant past, like Starfox or GoldenEye. Who knows? E3 is clearly the right venue for them to cater to the hardcore, as the entire hardcore fan base is paying attention.”

Id like to see a wii music, where the drums use the balance board AND two wiimotes with motion plus on each as the sticks… Expensive, but maybe it would actually feel like drums?

Oh yea, and fly fishing in zelda using the motion plus!

Oh, and don’t forget – PS3 and 360 needs to focus on the hardcore fans too instead of starting to play around with motions-sensing wii-like controls trying to become the new Wii.
It was the hardcore fans who bought their consoles on the first place.

All I want to hear from Nintendo is this, Zelda for Wii, Pikmin 3, Starfox, F-Zero and Kid Icarus. That’s all we need to hear announced this year! As for the following year I would say a new Mario, Waverace, Pilotwings, 1080 Snowboarding, Mario Tennis, and Excite Bike. That’s the way you you make core fans happy :)

I would be satisfied to hear about a new Zelda…. or basically anything that does not have “Wii” in the title.
