    Looks awesome.

    Except for the fact thaaat

The varia suit’s color is far FAR too yellow. :/

  8. By Branden on Jun 10, 2009

The Varia Suit does seem pretty yellow, not like the usual gold shade, but this is still early testing. They can do anything from now until next year.

This definitely looks like it will include Team Ninja’s “brutality”, but we will have to wait and see whether it will fit well with the series or not. I’ll be wary if the game receives an M rating.

Looks fantastic. But what’s the gameplay going to be like. It has too much of a Gaiden feeling to it. And I hope it lives up to its expectations.

Am I the only one to be sadly disappointed with this?
This seems to me to be Metroid does Final Fantasy, with (I must admit) amazing graphics, but a storyline which is forced down your throat. Prime 3 started it, with constant communication with those damn AU’s, but at least it included backstories for races like Bryonians, granted, they lacked the depth of Primes 1&2, but at least they were there. I doubt if this game will even include a scan visor, there seems no need for it judging from the video.

WOW awesome, i loved ninja gaiden and i love the metroid series and now theyre teaming up for an amazing kickass game!

I’m a Metroid fan. Huge one. Ever since the first game. And every new iteration, I’ve gotten behind. Metroid is one series that, no matter the ‘new direction’ behind it, they’ve managed to get it right every step of the way. This step looks no different to me.

Look, people are saying it’s too “Ninja Gaiden” styled….it’s just the first trailer. Besides, even if it IS? Play the game first. Maybe, just maybe, Samus can be played in that style, and it’ll be perfect. Honestly, from pure visuals, I LOVE the way this is looking right now.

And as far as shoving the story down people throats…listen. There’s always different ways to tell stories. One thing that Prime did, over the older games is actually try to TELL a story, instead of letting you PLAY a story. The only (minor) gripe with the old Metroids up to Super Metroid, is that they told you very little. Almost everything was done in the game, and with mostly actions and the like, never with actual exposition. True, it did it well, but maybe I’m just lazy in my old age, and want at least a bit of exposition and the like in my games now.

That being said, the first trailer for the new Metroid looks EXTREMELY promising, and I, for one, can’t wait for more.

Nintendo just ruined the best series they ever had. =(

    Looks very promising.

Seriously, who CARES if it looks and feels like Ninja Gaiden. I don’t know a single person who hated that game. And it’s nice to see Team Ninja, of all people, breathe new life into what I consider the best game franchise out there.

    We’ll find out next year.

    I suppose we’ll never get another 2D Metroid…

I don’t know why everyone is bashing this. It’s only ONE trailer. A lot can happen between now and when the game is actually released.

I would at least play the game first when it’s released, then you can judge.

This game looks awesome! Even though I really enjoyed the Prime series, it bugged me that all I could see was the Arm Cannon. And now you can finally see Samus in action, with acrobatics and stuff, not just raging on the fire button :P And they did say you still have the exploration part in this game. Honestly, I think this mix will put Metroid even higher on the popularity list. But we’ll see this summer :3

    Hey everybody, It’s me Samus!

See where I said?, “Time to go” ?….HOT!

Anyway, listen. You buy this one and I PROMISE I will get Nintendo to make a 2D CLASSIC STYLE METROID GAME for the Wii. It will absolutely rock everyone because like zomg, imagine if the SNES had that kinda power, nobody would play anything else other than FUCKING 2D CLASSIC STYLE METROID GAMES like all the time. Wouldn’t that be worth “buying in” to this interesting idea? FOR CHRISTS SAKE, I WAS 3D IN THE LAST FEW GAMES, AT LEAST YOU CAN GET ME SIDEWAYS IN THIS ONE?! I mean, you do want me to be all Varia’d out on your 59″ LED HDTV, right? Aren’t you sick of playing me on the handhelds? Not that I don’t mind holding hands…. 0:-)

Bottom line: Buy ten billion copies of “Other M” and you’ll be rewarded in kind (old school playstyle on new school hardware). PROMISE.

    See you next mission,

    - Samus Aran
