Nintendo to introduce “demo play” in new games
June 5th, 2009 Posted in News, Posted by Valay, WiiA patent discovered in January with Shigeru Miyamoto as the creator hinted that Nintendo may be making their games easier for casual gamers. And this past week, it was teased that, starting with New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Nintendo will implement a system in which these players would find assistance in beating a level. Now Miyamoto has shed light on the first details of a new mode that Nintendo is introducing – demo play.
In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, players will have the ability to temporarily stop the game. The system will then take over and show how to beat that particular level. Once that is complete, gamers can press a button and continue.
“In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, if a player is experiencing an area of difficulty, this will allow them to clear troubled areas and take over when they’re ready. And yes, we’re looking into this for future games.” – Shigeru Miyamoto

so as long they still keep it hard enough for us regular gamers, then im not worried about it. haha, the demo play is for the new comers like little kids or really really old folks.

That is a cool concept. Something I will not use but I am sure my little brother will. I am tired of him asking me to come over to beat the game for him. This feature will help.

Sometimes I wish majoras mask had this feature. That game pisses me off, but I love it so.

Sorry this is the stupidest thing I ever heard, todays games are way to easy as it is, and now their making them so people don’t even have 2 think anymore, just cheat ur way ahead. T he whole point of a game is to be challenged and to make u think about how to beat the obstacle, with this it doesn’t make it a game anymore, because u can’t lose !

im pretty sure it’s just an option to use it or not, we are not force to use it so im not worried about it. i can see my little sis using it cause she always jumping on my back to help her out.

As long as the overall difficulty is ramped up, I don’t care if this feature exists.

You guys have to get worked up about everything don’t you?!
I for one don’t mind this thing once I heard it; hopefully as long as the new Zelda Wii doesn’t use it, then I’d be happy!

This is why todays youth is so dumb, nobody forces them to think, everyone hands them everything, including the answers, when I was little and played hard games I kept playing them till I figured out what to do, not ask someone to show me or read a book to teach me how 2 beat it, what’s the point of playing if someone tells you what to do, its them playing then not you ! You should all let ur little siblings play till they learn the answers, I used to do this with my friends who would beg me to help, and in the end they would enjoy the fact they figured things out on their own !!!!

^ Well, I dunno.
Some people get really turned off by having to figure things out. Social affects aside, “playing” games shouldn’t have to be a frustrating and difficult process if that’s not what you’re looking for. Those who enjoy a challenge are no more tempted to do this, than they are to cheat other ways, so there’s really no difference to them. This just helps those who plain just want to play games, get further, and have fun without having to be overly frustrated.

I pretty much agree with Zack.
Plus, it’s optional. So it’s not something that will be forced in your face. And who’s to say that only children will take advantage of the system? I’m not saying that grandmas will be playing New Super Mario Bros. Wii, but it’s possible.

My only problem with this is the strain it will put on the size of games. Is this the reason that New Super Mario Wii doesn’t have online play? Because it won’t fit on the disk now? The ending credits for Okami were removed from the wii because they would not fit on the disk, according to the developers. I would hate for this feature to cut down on the amount of content.

Meh, I don’t care. Complaining about this is like complaining about a game with multiple difficulty levels having an easy mode.
