Take-Two on the possibility of GTA Wii, more DS titles
June 25th, 2009 Posted in DS, News, Posted by Brian, WiiGrand Theft Auto has graced Nintendo platforms in the past. The series landed on the Game Boy Advance and most recently, the Nintendo DS. One request that seems to be universal amongst fans, however, is to see a GTA title on the Wii. And now Take-Two has commented on the possibility of that happening.
“Nintendo’s been a terrific partner for us. We always look at ways in which we can bring our games to platforms that make sense for our games. We’re eager to work with Nintendo to bring our games to their platforms. We just haven’t yet defined the right title for the right platform.” – Ben Feder, CEO of Take-Two
You might also be interested in knowing that Take-Two doesn’t seem to be disappointed in sales of Chinatown Wars. Better yet, the company isn’t ruling out future GTA titles on the system.
“The DS, typically, has longer legs in the sales cycle. We’re very pleased with how that game is continuing to sell in the market; it will be in the market for a long, long time to come…When we’re ready to announced it, we’ll announce it. Right now Rockstar’s focus is on The Ballad of Gay Tony episode, Red Dead Redemption and Agent.” – Ben Feder, CEO of Take-Two

I highly doubt we will see a GTA Wii version. I mean, I’m pretty sure that they looked at the sales of the GTA DS to see if there’s a market for the Wii. And with the title dropped off the chart during it’s 2nd month, I think, they’re not going to make one for the Wii. I really don’t care anyway. I bought GTA4 for my 360 and stopped playing after a week or so. Just not my type of game.

The Wii market wants a GTA game, that’s all we want, not GTA on DS, not Manhunt 2 on Wii, etc, people keep asking them for GTA on Wii so that’s what they should be doing, and while we wait port tall the PS2 ones over to the Wii and put them on 1 disc !

GTA III, GTA: VICE CITY and GTA: SAN ANDREAS in one pack, with new play controls, that would be great!

What’s the knock on Manhunt 2? That was a terrific game. A lot of fun. And I’m glad it was brought to the Wii. GTA series on Wii would be great and developers will take notice now after the Conduit’s release. The Conduit will prove the critics wrong about Wii and the hardcore crowd that owns it. We love mature games. But they have to be worthy.

I am not knocking Manhunt 2, I’m just saying GTA on Wii should have been put out way before Manhunt 2 , plus I don’t think sales oh MH2 were all that good, which then in turn makes Rockstar say the mature audience isn’t there etc, when all people wanted from them was GTA, as for new play controls for the old games nothing would change except the aiming of your gun !!!
