Wii Zelda title confirmed to be in development
July 15th, 2008 Posted in News, Posted by Valay, WiiThe father of Zelda, Shigeru Miyamoto already spoke on a number of key issues surrounding the Wii and its games. Just recently, however, Miyamoto continued to answer questions and elaborated on Satoru Iwata’s comment this morning in which it was explained that the Zelda team is “hard at work.” Said Miyamoto, “The Zelda team in particular always works on Zelda titles. The core members of the Zelda team have for a very long time now been focused on Zelda games, and continue to focus on Zelda games, so they are hard at work and working away. And then, of course, we have the DS Zelda team as well, so even there we’re having some switching of people in and out where the DS team is mixing in with the Wii team and working on the Wii version. I don’t necessarily think it will change that drastically, but I think that Zelda is a franchise that does need some big new unique ideas,” he said. “And so the team right now is very focused on trying to find those ideas.”

I’m sure most of us are.
The Zelda series is one of Nintendo’s most important franchises…They’re most likely taking extra care to ensure the next game will deliver.

I’d expect this game to be released at least a year from now. Nothing more than a guess but only time will tell

I have and always expected Nintendo to hold off and make this perfect, so I won’t be too surprised if it actually does come out by late 2010 at the least!
I mean I can wait that long if I can; having Zelda TP was all that mattered for me to have my Wii by end of 2006!

To be honest, I’m worried… Miyamoto keeps saying that Zelda Wii will be different, use new ideas. But what if this leads to a fall in the series?
Zelda was the game I grew up with.
Please, Miyamoto, deliver another epic.

The next game should be really thought-out and should dish out new and innovative ideas. Oh, and since this is the first true Wii Zelda title, perhaps some Wii-related puzzles and/or gameplay should be considered.

Well, im personally glad that they are going to take some chances with their games. It seems that they keep making ‘safe’ franchises tht everyone will buy but they dont try and make the new greatest hit.

Miyamoto can’t create a fall in the Zelda series,, every game he builds off every other game, adding new ideas and innovations. While TP wasn’t the most memorable or innovative, it had just enough stuff from previous games to keep previous gamers interested, yet at the same time had plenty of new, but not to radical content to catch new gamers and keep the old ones coming back for more. If he continues like this, Zelda can’t be bad

i would just like to say that a nice change to wii zelda would be being able to play co-op, you could use different tactics with link and i guess instead of zelda being captured it would be cool if you could play as her and use different tactics to get arround just say if you don’t play co-op you can just switch between characters during gameplay. Oh and by the way, everyone that played twilight princess to the end saw ganondorf die so please please please don’t bring him back, if you must i heard this from someone on a site, a more powerful evil that link zelda and ganondorf have to fight together. i guess this really wasn’t asked for, but you have to admit this seems like a big unique idea miyamoto might be looking for. ^^

This is great news. I love the series: I have a lot of the Zelda games: Ocarina of Time(duh), Majora’s Mask(my personal favorite), Link to the Past, the Adventure of Link, the original Legend of Zelda, and the Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. I’m really wondering what the graphics are going to look like, considering that the people behind Zelda TP said that they were in a rush to release it and weren’t allowed to improve the graphics since it was pretty much a port of the gamecube version.
*Idea: 1. Allowing you too choose to play as either Link(good) or an enemy like Ganondorf(evil)
2. You have the choice(as Link) to fight for the evil or for good. You start out as regular Link(neutral) and you make choices in the game that decide your fate. Ex. If you become Ganondorf’s apprentice, you, over time, could end up as virtually Dark Link. And if you choose to follow the gods or something like that, you could become (for lack of a better title) Angel Link.
3. What Dekanis said about Ganondork, Link, and Zelda teaming up against a higher evil. I give him props for this idea.

I definately think that co-op should be a consideration. I also agree that maybe Ganondorf, Zelda, and Link should team up against a greater evil. Maybe you could play different missions/quests with the three characters…

Oh puleeeeeeze! Miyamoto started off as a genius, now he’s just an uninspired tired old hack! Iawata says he pulls inspiration from his homelife/hobbies and Pretendo has a NDA from him on those as well.
Aside from the motion control gimmick of the wii, Pretendo jumped the shark long ago.
I mean really, how innovative is it to sell you games that you probably already own from the old ass previous systems.
Pretendo may make a boat-load of money but they live in creative idea hell.

innovation is great just not when that means more gimmicky uses of the balance board or mor casual shit
