Capcom and Nintendo working to strengthen their relationship
August 12th, 2009 Posted in General Nintendo, News, Posted by AustinResident Evil Umbrella Chronicles, Zack and Wiki, Resident Evil 4, Monster Hunter 3; All of these are great Wii titles released by Capcom, and it looks as if the Wii-love from the company won’t stop there. Not only has the next Devil Kings game been confirmed to be on Wii, but an article on Nihon Keizai Shimbun today revealed that Nintendo and Capcom are going to begin working closer together than every to bring anything from fantastic game launches (like the one we saw in Japan for Monster Hunter 3) to game demos and much more. No word on how Nintendo is going to be helping out with all of this, but you can be sure that with their tendency to do fantastic game launches and promotions for their own games, whatever they have cooking is something big.

A very good sign after Capcom’s relatively hot and cold relationship with Nintendo this generation so far – and fortunately, it’s only been getting better as of late. Good business decisions. And apparently Capcom USA recently registered the Sengoku Basara trademark here, so we may be seeing 3 hit the Wii in the west. It’d make a great counter to Koei’s Samurai Warriors 3 and another strong hack and slasher for the system in general. And frankly, relocalizing the series to focus on its Japanese Sengoku Jidai storyline rather than completely changing it like they did in the PS2 “Devil Kings” release would make it an even stronger competitor.
Now if they’d just bring over Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes – which includes the original “Devil Kings” Sengoku Basara that hit the PS2 here as an unlockable, two games for the price of one – and sell it for a decent price as a game that’s been out for a couple of years in Japan now and they’d have a great introduction to the series here.
