First Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare details – No MotionPlus or DLC, customizable controls, more

August 19th, 2009 Posted in News, Posted by Valay, Wii

We shared some of the first screenshots of Call of Duty 4 on Wii earlier today. Now some of the first details have been released.

- Gamescom version is “almost beta”
- Nothing was taken down from the original version, everything is included: every multiplayer map, every multiplayer mode, all the original AI in single mode, all campaign modes from PS360.
- DLC not included. Neither Wii Speak/Motionplus.
- One of the reasons they’re porting the game is to continue the evolution of Treyarch’s engine. Graphical improvements in some textures resolution, general performance, new particle effects. 30 fps.
- WaW connections numbers on Wii were over any expectation, and were a complete surprise, which is one of the reasons for this game/multi
- Online improvements: now up to 10 players, host migration and possibility to invite connected friends
- Dev team is similar to WaW’s: from 25 to 30 people
- IW’s role: Giving engine code last year, MW code now, and some supervision
- Controls: Everything is configurable, ala Conduit, in addition to being smoother and better. All parameters, new scope setting. Up to 6 presets: from “greenhorn” to “insane”
- Squad mate mode is back. Zapper also compatible with single player
- CG/VA/sound effects/ OST from PS360.

“DLC not included. Neither Wii Speak/Motionplus.”

    They lost my money there.

    No wii speak. Bullshit.

Wow, stop complaining about new Wii Speak. From these details, this is without a doubt the best First person Shooter on the Wii. 10 times better than WAW, and also better than The Conduit. Your loss that you’re not getting this. Wii Speak doesn’t make a game. Also, it’s only the BETA. Wii Speak might eventually get incorporated in.

Hmm, everything sounds very nice except for, sorry to echo this, no wii-speak.

Don’t much care about motion plus, thats not necessary to improve shooters. I want to point at the screen and use buttons for everything else.

I’m chuffed that they were surprised by the online numbers for WaWii, thats very exciting to me. The audience IS here for good online shooters, you just gotta give ‘em to us.

I’m also a little saddened by no DLC when they have the SDHC update in the works for GH & RB. Oh well.

When they say no DLC included, do they mean on the disc itself or that it won’t have any at all ? No Wii speak sux, but whatever, and M+ isn’t really needed so no loss there.

You guys have got it all wrong…

No Wii Speak? Who cares? Yeah that’s such an inconvenience that I can’t here 12 yr old douche bags talking smack like on the 360. Sorry but this is a blessing.

No Motion Plus? A bit of a downer, but if they implement the same motion controls from WaW, then it’s all gravy baby.

No DLC? Again who cares? I’d much rather of had the DLC for WaW, what with all those sweet zombie maps for it.

    Now the downers…

Squad mate mode is bulls*it plain and simple, make it true co-op or don’t bother.

Like WaW, no local multiplayer? Total bullsh&t again, implement local death match NOW damnit!!

If this game doesn’t look as good graphically as WaW did on Wii, then youre doing us all a disservice.

Yeah, even with no wii speak this game is sounding like its going to be bad ass. I’ll even go as far as saying its shaping up to be the best FPS on wii. Im definitly buying day one. It just pissed me off not having wii speak.
