Monster Hunter surprise coming on Monday

September 4th, 2009 Posted in News, Posted by Valay, Wii

Capcom’s teasing a “monster” surprise on the company’s European forums and official blog for Monday. There’s no word yet on what the company has in store, but it may be worth mentioning that there’s a screenshot of Monster Hunter 3 on the blog. Also, we know MH3 is on its way to North America early next year, so perhaps the mystery is related to that title.

“Make sure you hang around here on Monday.” – Capcom Europe’s Senior Online Marketing & Community Manager

“Just a note to say that we (and our European-flavored friends) have a “Monster” surprise coming for Monster Hunter fans. Yes, I would say it’s bigger than the Ragiakurusu. So when is it coming? Monday! /tease” – Capcom’s official blog

Just re-confirm Wii speak and make online Free, that’s all we need to hear, anything else would just be a bonus, or tell us Monster Hunter G is being brought over this year while we wait for 3 :)

i wouldnt count on it being for free, but wii speak is the likely suprise. That alone is enough to make me happy though.

OMG….PLEASE be Monster Hunter 3 getting a PS3 port outside of Japan. That’s the only announcment I’d care about. I honestly can’t stand Monster Hunter on PSP because I’m an online hunter from the PS2 version and was for 2000 hours. Just online. It’s my favorite game of all time online, but I really don’t enjoy it at all solo. ANd I have no interest in the Wii. So to be able to once again hunt online using my favorite tool of the trade….a dual shock controller….I’d be the happiest gamer on Earth.

On PS2, my 2 favorite games were Monster Hunter and Killzone, so basically my dreams of PS3 before that insideous, dishonorable announcment by Capcom about Monster Hunter 3 going from PS3 exclusive to Wii exclusive, was of Killzone 2 and Monster Hunter 3. I’m an American gamer btw.

I don’t have any hard feelings about Wii getting Monster Hunter aside from the fact that I couldn’t play it. The more people getting to experience the greatness of MH, the better. Most under-rated series of all time IMO. But to be Wii exclusive and not Wii/PS3 cross-platform at the very least is why I now resent Capcom. It would have cost the same amount of money, and reached 2 very different demographics. Including 80% Monster Hunters entire current fanbase who had no interest in Wii, which I know for a fact from my MH friends lists. It was very dishonorable. Make Capcom lose face.

Um its fanbase has no interest in Wii, are you insane? I suggest you look at those Japanese sales and tell me no one who was a fan was interested in Wii, its only its best selling 3rd party game ever in Japan and last I checked they were the major fanbase. And all you PS3 crybabies stop already its not happening, your not getting this game so just stop already !

Well i would be the happiest camper if it was for ps3, shit or even 360 where we can have good graphics and be more comfertable playing but being how capcom f***** up over so many times i seriously doubt its a ps3/360 port so i wont even bother looking waiting for it on monday….either way if it was coming to ps3/360 im sure wed have to wait for mh4 thats just how much of an ass capcom is

    Mmmmmm…. European-flavored

seems like a lot of people are jealous that this is a wii exclusive. Too bad for them, because i will be loving the hell out of this title come march. :)

@ Tommy – I agree that a PS3 (preferably exclusive version, so that it could really take advantage of the hardware) would be totally awesome, and exactly what I’ve been waiting to hear, but if it’s not, it won’t stop me buying the Wii version. Reviews say everything other than it being ‘crappy’.

Free online would be pretty excellent.

Actually Tri’s sales in Japan havn’t been nearly as good as hoped. It hasn’t sold NEARLY as well as the PSP versions, and it’s weekly sales have fallen off MUCH faster than PSP MH sales tapered over time. It just recently hit 1 million, no? Didn’t MHPG2 sell some 600k on it’s first day? The demand was not NEARLY as high as was expected over in Japan. I would argue that MH is one game that demographic matters more than install base, and if MH3 came out on PS3 AND Wii the same day and looked exactly the same. the Wii version would probably have the higher 1st week sales, but they’d quickly taper, like they did in reality, but the PS3 sales would have stayed consistent over a couple months and probably outsold the Wii version in a fairly short amount of time.
