Media Create hardware sales (8/31 – 9/6)

Media Create has published the latest hardware sales figures from Japan. The results are below. You can also check out the Famitsu estimates we posted last night.

PS3 – 151,783
DSi – 60,419
PSP – 22,184
Wii – 21,557
DS Lite – 8,309
Xbox 360 – 6,827
PS2 – 3,001

For comparison’s sake, here are the numbers from August 24 (last week).

DSi – 59,881
PSP – 26,081
Wii – 25,038
DS Lite – 7,304
Xbox 360 – 7,254
PS2 – 3,179
PS3 – 1,040

    how on Earth did PS3 go from 1k to 151k in a matter of a week??? it just looks like something new was released, or maybe a price drop??

    the reason they went from 1k to 151k is because was preparing a console slim there was no stock to buy in japan this is the end result

    Hey there lolz. Wouldn’t it be lovely if people like you were banned? :)

    Anyway, as random guy pointed out, it is indeed the slim. The PS3 sales were dropping down to barely over 1000 after they stopped shipping the original model – when they were in stock, sales usually bottomed out around 7000-8000 a week, and we’re going to get back that before long. But due to the constricted supply not being able to keep up with the demand – and coupled with the price drop itself – we’re seeing the expected boosted sales. Like when high demand games hit, we’re just seeing another brief high in weekly sales, and we’re going to see significant dropoffs in the coming weeks until it returns to its usual sales numbers.

    Business as usual, basically.

    and further more, I don’t keep up with “PS3″ news, and anyone with a real life shouldn’t feel like they have to.

    are you serious, “random guy on the web”? that has to be one of the stupidest questions I have ever been asked.
