Can Nintendo compete with Halo 3: ODST and Modern Warfare 2?
September 17th, 2009 Posted in News, Posted by Valay, WiiAlthough Nintendo has two significant releases for the remainder of the year, the titles couldn’t be any more different. Wii Fit Plus is a clear casual experience while New Super Mario Bros. Wii contains classic platforming. But does Nintendo believe they can compete against the likes of Halo 3: ODST and Modern Warfare 2? Reggie Fils-Aime, President and COO of Nintendo of America, explained when he was asked about that very question in an interview.
“We’re selling both to the gamer who grew up playing Nintendo, who grew up playing Metroid, who is playing those games, maybe has a second console in the house. Speaking not only to those consumers, but also speaking to a much wider audience. So for us, it’s core and more, right? It’s both that heavy playing consumer today as well as a much larger opportunity.”

Why do ppl always compare Nintendo games to that of 360 and ps3?
Ninty is in a league of thier own, ps3 n 360 are both the same.
MW2 looks meh and Halo look like every other FPS.
By Jason on Sep 17, 2009
Ohh please Nath thats like calling The Legend Of Zelda just like evryother action/puzzle game. NOONE in their right mind would do that. Play MW1 and ANY other Halo. you may not like them, but MILLIONS of other gamers do. It all boils down to Ninty has forsaken the regular gamer…..

Probably the Wii sucks, like 360 and ps3 fans say’s. But Wii is kicking other consoles a**es on sales (world wide).Plus we got Residen Evil, Dead Space, call of duty4 (old but I dont freaking care), Maramusa, and the kicking a** trilogy of metroid. And if u wanna talk about 2010 line up, wooo, Zelda, Metroid Oyher M, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and residen evil zero. And belive me, I can live with just zelda and metroid, can you dig that sucka !!!!!!

You guys know i’m a big nintendo fan and i post at nintendo everything alot.To me nintendo has really droped the ball this gent. You ask why we compare nintendo to the other two next gent systems.I’ve been buying nintendo systems since the nes and i know i’m not alone when i say….The nintendo we know now isn’t the old nintendo that we grow up loven. Now maybe they have alwasy road the line of casul a little but never have they been as bad as they are this gentration.Nintendo won’t listen to there fans on what they want anymore. Its ok to make games like wiifit and wii music but that core base thats still there needs to be listened to on what they want to see and what the big N needs to inprove on.It’s a rant but it’s the truth.Lets not forget nintendo trying to pass animal crossing off as a game to please the core.Thats a sign of a company not in tune with there fans. That’s my to since from a nintendo fan.

@the critical masses
I see what a lot of you are saying but it’s really a different world in gaming now than when we were loving Nintendo in the early 90s. All these graphic heavy games (which I play btw) sometimes are all the same. We play for a different reason it seems. It’s like reading a book vs watching a film. Book readers like to imagine the characters as they desire, their thoughts, emotions, physical descriptions…everything. WE used to experience that in games like Chrono Trigger, A Link to the Past, and FF6. Today, we play movies. It’s cinema with a contoller. Nintendo tries to keep things subtle but they will never make it the way it was. It’s a theory.

Nice bs answer Reggie.
The only game on Wii I’m buying this year is RE:DC and that’s not published by Nintendo.

‘Generation’ not ‘gentration’ so you saying “this gent” doesn’t make any sense.

What is with everyone saying Nintendo has changed? I couldn’t explain it better than this article:
http://nintendodpad.com/Welcome/News/Entries/2009/6/15_Has_Nintendo_changed_.html
How can people say Nintendo aren’t making any games for the core audience?
Galaxy (soon to have a sequel) (Also soon to have New Super Mario Bros)
Metroid Trilogy (soon to have Other M)
Twilight Princess (we know another Zelda is in the works)
Brawl
Punch Out!!
Super Paper Mario
Mario Kart
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
And that’s just off the top of my head of Nintendo developed games. I’m sure there’s more. And I’m also sure it’s more core games than what the Gamecube had.
“That’s my to since from a nintendo fan.”
It is your two cents. ‘To since’ doesn’t make any sense and just sounds like nonsensical babble.

@ Rory That was my opinion on nintendo this gent..or whatever generation.I’m still think nintendo is great, but there not half of what they use to be.I own 5 of those games you named off.We know who the fanboy is here.Do you need a huggie change,do you need your sippy cup. That was my opinion nothing more.I’m preety sure valay wasn’t trying to start a flame war……..by the way i think you ment to use ISN’T here. How can people say Nintendo aren’t making any games for the core audience?

*Sigh*
Firstly of course it was your opinion, this was made obvious when YOU stated it.
Secondly, take some time to punctuate your posts, it really is a struggle trying to comprehend what you are trying to say. Most web browsers even have spell checkers built in so this shouldn’t be hard.
Nintendo aren’t half of what they used to be? I’d wager that they are much more considering this is their best generation of all time.
Do not ask me if I need a sippy cup or a diaper change when you are the one who types like a child. And in referral to you calling out my grammar, I always thought both were acceptable, aren’t is used for plurals right? and even you referred to Nintendo as “they” (plural, although there is no unisex singular version for they but I’m going off on a tangent here..) so in that sense (they aren’t, Ninendo aren’t) it is acceptable. Maybe if I was outed by someone who typed coherently I would be sure I was wrong, but until then. . .
And besides, I never said I had perfect grammar, but at least it is comprehensible. And I don’t want this argument to turn into a grammar argument because that doesn’t prove who is right or wrong. It’s just, like I said, a b**** to read what you post.
By the way, I own all three consoles, and have most games on the 360, so don’t call me a Nintendo fanboy.

Amen. Your the only level headed person on here right now. I sometimes forget that this is NINTENDO everything. Looks like Nintendo can beat those two titles listed above, because all the fanboys are in here writing novels on how they wont. They must be scared that Nintendo will win the holiday.

WILL YOU PEOPLE EVER SHUT UP???!!!! GO PLAY YOUR STUPID VIOLENT PIECES OF CRAP ON THE STINKING XBOX & PS3 IF YOU AIN’T GONNA PLAY THE WII ANYMORE OR DISS IT; OR ABOUT WHAT REGGIE SAID!!!! MORONS I SAY; YOU ARE ALL MORONS!!!!

Are most of you determined to prove just how stupid people can be? >_<
By Lanmanna on Sep 21, 2009
@Rory
Do you mind if I add some more games to Nintendo, the company people say have abandoned them?
Galaxy (soon to have a sequel) (Also soon to have New Super Mario Bros)
Metroid Trilogy (soon to have Other M)
Twilight Princess (we know another Zelda is in the works)
Wario Shake It!
Wario Ware
Brawl
Batallion Wars 2
Endless Ocean
Punch Out!!
Super Paper Mario
Mario Kart
Super Mario Strikers Charged
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
I think Halo 3: ODST looks cool, but MW2 looks bland.
