Is Modern Warfare: Reflex going to support WiiSpeak?

September 25th, 2009 Posted in News, Posted by Valay, Wii

Update: Apparently someone working on the Wii version of Modern Warfare says that the game is NOT going to support WiiSpeak: “I’m not sure where the presenters got their information from, but the game doesn’t support wii speak. Sorry guys.” I can’t confirm that this person is in fact a developer, but now when you think of it, it would be sort of odd for WiiSpeak to be suddenly included.

Even though WiiSpeak support in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex was not originally planned, the developers have had a change of heart. At an Activision Blizzard press event in Portugal, it was confirmed that the title will make use of the peripheral after all. A captured slide at the event notes:

“Players can talk with their team over the Wii WiFi network, with no headset required. This feature is not normally available with Wii online games”

This is, without a doubt, fantastic news. But you have to wonder if the negative reaction to the lack of WiiSpeak support influenced the developers to change their minds.

This is AWESOME. Now I really can’t wait for it!

By the way, thank you Nintendo Everything – you’ve proved to me that this site is the best to get highly updated info on this game. I appreciate your work.

@ Ride – Hate to ruin your happy mood, but you saw the update portion of the news post, right? Right now, there’s a chance that it won’t actually support WiiSpeak. It’s confusing, but hopefully Treyarch/Activision will clear it up soon.

And thanks very much for the kind words. Means a lot, really! Hope to see you comment again.

Yeah, I just realized that… It’s too bad really. Oh well…

Well, there is still a chance! Perhaps the developer didn’t want to give away information before it was confirmed by Activision. I suppose we’ll find out soon for sure.

The “Wii Speak” confirmation is definitely fake, zoom in on the image and you can see one of the quotation marks is red and the other is black. Not only that if you zoom in you can see the S in “Speak” isn’t aligned with “peak” Also the bullet point is in red as well. I doubt Treyarch/Activision would make mistakes like this in a presentation. Also why is Infinity Ward’s logo on the bottom along with “Modern Warfare 2″? Doesn’t make sense

I want so bad WiiSpeak for The Wii Versio. Why The Xbox or The PS3 Version have it?!

Rony G, you are hilarious. You took pictures of a screen that says Modern Warfare 2 and has Wii listed as a system that’s coming out on November 10. You’re probably the person who faked it.
