Wii homebrew channel has already returned

October 9th, 2009 Posted in News, Posted by Valay, Wii

Nintendo’s main intention behind the latest Wii update was to remove the homebrew channel from all consoles. Once version 4.2 is installed, the channel will be completely removed. However, it looks like Nintendo’s attempt to end all homebrew activity has failed – even with their most aggressive action yet. A fix is already available for all Wii owners and there are a few options available depending on whether or not the program has been previous installed

    Why can’t those developers/guys in that work & orversee their homebrew community just give up already?! Don’t they know that what they’re doing is just making those who believe in piracey is wrong; including Nintendo who always try & do their best to give those who want updates… just so we can revmove that homebrew crap! :(

    I swear what has this world come to in the video game community! People like to cheat & download illegal games, I get that; even if it’s just to emulate games that won’t ever come to the VC on time! But if this ever happens again; then the homebrew pepole have better get this through their thick brains; Nintendo will find another way to block their crappy homebrew-shit yet once again! :(

    And don’t give me any crap you rabbid fan boys who love to flood comments sections like this; you know I’m right & I won’t ever shut up… because I’m just an anti-homebrew person & anti-everything that’s illegal to video games!! :(

    Erm crappy homebrew … i disagree. Nintendo made a small fuk up by region locking the wii. So now thanks to my homebrew channel i can pay cold hard cash and play games released in other regions. Check around and u’ll find lots of hidden gems in the wii catalogue

    you can also watch dvd’s on the wii cause of homebrew i believe. don’t have it myself but would be tempted to do so unless ninty made a dvd channel, makes sense if the thing is able to play them in the first place

    @josh

    Homebrew can be used to create a media player on the wii, multi-region play, DVD playback, you can switch control maps around for games like RE4, and lets not forget brawl+. If Nintendo keeps half assing their stuff, you can bet homebrew is gonna be around for the hardcore N fans to pick up the slack.

    I despise homebrew because of the illegal and unethical activities users engage.

    i think the best solution is to legitimise homebrew after the console’s lifespan is over. That way everyone gets the control they want over their system(eventually) and can play as many old games on it as they please. Yet publishers can release Wiiware/VC without fear of pirates taking their revenues.

    No matter what Nintendo does, the pirates will always win. When they release the next fix, it will be patched again, then Nintendo will do it again, repatched again.

    When I was a kid, NES was the thing and all the most popular games for the NES were always out of stock/sold out. It was the worst sometimes, all we had was NES, and there were so many horrible, horrible games for it. Most of my childhood NES days were spent being unable to buy the games I wanted, settling for those piece of shit games. I had similar problems with SNES although not as bad. As I got older I came to find out Nintendo was purposely causing all the US game shortages, they could handle the demand they just wanted to keep people wanting….eternally wanting. Well kiss my ass Nintendo I’ve never had HOMEBREW that tasted so damn Sweet.

    Look,
    yes the systems are exploited for piracy, that will never end, but please dont come on here with your childish views on homebrew.
    Homebrew has been on all systems throughout the years, and has great legitimate programmes, and programmers, but your comments like, its illegal is total BS, it has legitimate uses, and some top programmes on all systems.
    Also dont take it for granted either all homebrew users are pirates, you are sadly mistaken

    I’m not going to deem people who use homebrew as “evil doers”. However, just because it has legit uses doesn’t mean I’m going to get it. I rather not run the risk of voiding my warrenty or even bricking my Wii. That, and if homebrew was suppose to be on Wii, it would have come in an update or just came with the console. Honestly, I’m fine without homebrew on any of my consoles and just like playing it oldschool ;) .

    People who by a wii have the right to do whatever they want to it and nintendo has no right to restrict it. Yes piracy is bad but it is always going to be out there no matter what. Homebrew is totally legal. If people want to blow up there wii with a shotgun they should be able to. Nintendo cant say that they cant run there own code on it. Besides which the 4.2 update that everyone says is a wonderful step to ending piracy on the wii and destroying homebrew is bricking innocent peoples wiis. Some people who have no homebrew at all are being bricked because of nintendo. They have no fukn right to do that. Even if they have homebrew and have used it to pirate games. I say screw nintendo. This outburst is going to make more people pissed off and will create more pirates. great job nintendo.
