No friend codes for Monster Hunter 3 in the US
October 22nd, 2009 Posted in News, Posted by Valay, WiiLike its Japanese release, Monster Hunter 3 will not use the dreaded friend codes when it arrives in the states next year. Capcom’s Community Specialist Shawn Baxter confirmed the news earlier today, although he did not say if there will be any fees involved. In Japan, players must pay weekly or monthly in order to connect online. It is also undecided at this point if the title will be utilizing WiiSpeak.

Capcom if ur reading this it has 2 be free in America if u want this game to be succesfull !!!! And Wii speak is a ver y much needed option, do not skimp on us or you won’t have good sales !!!

I agree with Captain N (Nigerian??).
I WILL NOT PAY ONE CENT TO PLAY THIS GAME ONLINE!!!
And if you’re going to charge me to play this game online, then I could careless about Wii speak since I wouldn’t be using it anyhow.

WHOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO! Very good news. Why are you guys so bent on paying though? I’ll pay to have no friend codes, wii speak support and one of the most roubust online experiences wii has to offer. The first month would come free anyways, and 2000 points would get you about 3 months worth of online play(if they stuck to the japanese payment system) which i really dont think is that bad. Just my opinion though.

i coundn’t agree more keyz.I don’t think it’s that bad.

That is nice that Friend Codes will not be used for Monster Hunter 3 in the U.S., but will there be a catch by its absence? Due to the franchise’s low sales outside of Japan, it would not be wise to charge players a fee to play online as this will alienate them and affect Monster Hunter 3 sales. If online is free, how will Capcom pay for the servers and costs of maintaining them?
By Valay on Oct 22, 2009
Thomas, that’s a great question. We’ll have to see what Capcom decides.

I think this really increases the chances of us having to pay for online, and I would much rather have friend codes and not have to pay online than not have friend codes and pay for online.

Jake
Thats not a confirmation, they were just saying they were looking into it. With the game running off Capcoms servers though, im expecting to pay, which doesnt bother me at all because of the reasons i stated above.

ee the proble mwith paying is that once you have to pay for one game you start having to pay for all games little by little. Nintendo tried to make this generation of players have a simple, free, online structure even the the Friend Codes are annoying they arent complicated. But me having to pay to play this game is insane becasue everyone knows after a few years the game severs eventually go down and then you have a game that no longer goes online and you payed into it for years to get all your stats etc. Free is the way to go here in America especially since your trying to grow you fanbase and introduce this to Nintendo users for the 1st time.

Sorry 4 the typos, was typing fast… and what they should have done was bring Monster Hunter G Wii over and seen how it did first!
