Last week, Famitsu published an article on their website, which stated that a new Lufia game is in development. The only question was, which platform is the game being created for? Fortunately, Famitsu shared that information today. In the latest edition of their magazine, it was announced that the game will be heading to the DS. We’re waiting for some concrete gameplay details at the moment, but we’ll add them to this post very soon. In the meantime, you can check out the first scans of the title above

It would make sense that a new Lufia title be released on the DS due to its home to many high-profile and well-received RPGs. Not only that, but the Japanese tend to buy more handheld RPGs than from those found in the home consoles, perhaps due to the preference to handheld gaming in Japan.

Fantastic. I haven’t played a new Lufia in far too long. 3 on the GBC was a lot of fun, but had a lot of flaws, too. And the Lufia Gaiden game that hit the GBA was a buggy mess with a lot of slowdown. I couldn’t get too far into it. Hoping we’ll see the first two on the VC before too long.
