GTA:CW did not deserve handheld game of the year and TBRB did not deserve best music game.

Well looks like wii and 360 fell short this year…. no 360 exclusives winning in any category other than 360 specific or original score (lame)… Ps3 exclusive: Game of the year, best graphics, most anticipated game, when will you people learn that ps3 exclusive just have the best quality since there not held back by the 360 limitations.. 360 games that are on the ps3 as well are even having to have multiple discs.. get with the times dvd is DEAD. get some real technology and get a ps3, heck even the military and fbi use the cell processor from the ps3′s as it is the cheapest peice of machine that can do the same computing as there super computers, look it up.

how do vga awards get picked, i thought it was peoples choice. in which case i was sure that mw2 would win in every catergory.

It would not be a surprise that New Super Mario Bros. Wii won Best Wii Game and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars won Best Handheld Game, but what I did not expect under the latter category is that all the nominees were released on the DS. No single nominee came from the PSP or iPhone.

360 won 6 of the categories, while PS3 also won 6 categories and more of 360s games were nominated than PS3. There you go.

Batman: Arkham Asylum should’ve won in the “Best Action Adventure” category. AC II is great, but not as great as Arkham Asylum.

No surprise that a PS3 game won GOTY or Best Graphics, quality and graphics are areas where the 360 can’t compete even on it’s best day.

Uncharted 2 thoroughly deserved it’s awards, i can’t wait to see what Naughty Dog have planned next.

Pokemon Platinum should’ve won best handheld game, though.

The 360 had little to go for it this year. I believe the ps3 took the crown for 2009.

last time i looked l4f 2 and mass effect 2 were xbox 360 exclusives sure they are on pc too but thats only because xbox is owned by microsoft if sony made computer software their games would be on pc too. PS3 made some great games this year better than xbox 360 but i think online experience for 360 is far better and the only thing ps3 online has goin for it is its free which is just as well since i wouldnt pay anything for it.

About the ps3 online service, I don’t think that is true anymore, PSN now has twitter and facebook integration, vidzone, netflix, the integrated web browser keeps improving, the psn content in itself is great both in quantity and quality, it has the ever expanding Home, online play is also great as far as i’m concerned, almost lag-free, a very mature community more so than xbox live and like you said it’s free. I believe it’s catching up to xbox live. There are still some things missing like chatting between friends regardless of the game your playing. But it’s improving pretty fast. Sony is doing a good job.
I just can’t wait to see how 2010 turns out for both consoles.

@ Phusion – i’m guessing they gave Uncharted 2 GOTY but not Best Action/Adventure Game because they felt Assassin’s Creed 2 deserved some recognition as well. Quite right too, i might add, Ubisoft created a masterpiece with AC2. Besides, GOTY > Every other category so it doesn’t take anything away from UC2.

Uncharted 2 really isn’t all that great of a game. The graphics be least of all to note, textures are quite blurry at times and there’s an awful lot of jaggies.

It also doesn’t really do much new for the genre. It’s alright but not one of the better examples of what this gen has to offer.

@ Silver – You can say all you please now, but Uncharted 2 was proven to be Game of The Year worthy and so it won. Sure you can try to give negative feedback about it, but what’s done is done. Besides, that game was actually bad ass, gameplay was awesome, the graphics are the best, and usually people who don’t like it haven’t played it and are just typing about something they don’t know or they are not interested in that genre,so yeah…good luck with that.

Who cares? What are the VGAs is the main question here. I believe gamecriticsawards has one of the definitive voices as far as game awards go. VGAs are a total joke. They will never establish themselves as THE gaming awards show. I didn’t even have to watch it to know how bad of a show it was. I never took it seriously, nor will I.

why is borderlands under the RPG section?? ghostbusters should’ve won for its section and this list is pretty sad. Unless they improve and start broadening their lists and performances, VGA sucks.
