If the DS continues to sell at least eight million copies in the U.S. (NPD numbers are for the U.S. only and does not include Canada as many believe) next year or 2011, it will eventually outsell the PS2 in total sales. The PS2 will have lower sales next year which makes it possible.

x box in a usa only console basically dead in eroupe. in the uk there giving them away with 4 games for 200 quid, (300 bucks) 4 games!!! and there not even crap old ones, fifa 10, forza 3, halo odst and gears of war 2. not too shabby, they must be shitting themselves though, psp almost outsold xbox 360 this month worldwide….o dere o dere good bye steve balmer as well…. microsoft dropped 50 percent of its stock price under his watch, hes gone, in the new year, ive just been told.!

would you believe ps2 is selling out this xmas as well…..same as psp 3000′. hard to find. Hannah Montana bunde in uk sold out in weeks, only a few dsi’s sitting on the shelves now.

When will people realize that the US isn’t the only place in the world that matters? I realize this site is reporting NPD numbers, but the dude above is talking about the UK and people need to admit that things actually might not be goin well for the 360 in other countries. Think about this: while the 360 is up on the PS3 in the US by 9 million or whatever, world totals put the gap at about 6. That means the PS3 has a decent lead everywhere else and has been available for a year or more less.

Each console maker had their own strategy. 360 was rushed to market with great online to snag game publishers in their camp, but built crappy hardware as a result that they are just now getting fixed. Sony took their time and made quality hardware but were arrogant, though it is clear now that they had a good long term plan just like they said from the start, and all must admit they followed through with it well. Also, they have the best 1st party support of all (yes, even better than Nintendo) but people don’t notice because they take so damn long to develop their games. Again, they take their time for the sake of quality. I for one am patient, and certainly like Sony’s approach the best.

Also its funny TheJoker…you mention how much of a headache the PSP is to Sony, but if you notice above its sold only 1m fewer than the 360. So if the PSP, which I’m sure is sold at a nice profit, is a headache then the 360 must be a bigger one, especially since the PSP has sold probably 15 million more worldwide than the 360 has. And Sony didn’t need to invest $1 billion to fix it.

If all you PS3 gay guys care about is graphics, why not use a high end PC. The 360 is outselling the PS3 simply because it is a much more well-rounded system. You have:
– top notch graphics
– superior online gaming
– superior fun factor

To prove my point :
- Sure PS3 has some games with great graphics, but you can’t say that the 360 graphics suck
– the 360 has the online gaming scene beat, period, point blank. For example, twice as many people play Call of Duty MW2 online on the 360 than on PS3. Numbers don’t lie…
– Fun factor: Take Gears or Halo for instance both are fun. Look at what Halo has accomplished, and look at its staying power. If you’ve never played, it then you don’t know. There were 6,569 HALO 2 matches logged in the last 24 hours and the game was released over 5 years ago. That’s saying something. That’s staying power. Replay-ability is gold to a true gamer because it adds value. Sure, yeah, yeah, yeah the PS3′s got some good games, but none in this genre have done what the Halo franchise has done for the Playstation console.

And for the chicken turds comparing the PSP to the Xbox 360 NPD numbers, lay off the pipe. You guys have to revert to sony’s handheld to try and pick up the slack for the lack of PS3 sales. Why not compare like systems to like systems.

You Sony playslaves don’t want to hear this but Project Natal will change yet again the 360′s staying power. You can argue all you want, “seen that done that,” but you’re lying to yourself and you know it. Project Natal will do everything the Wii can do and everything it wish it could. The biggest difference will be in shear muscle. We all know that the Wii can’t hold a candle to the 360′s processing power. Couple that with the fact that Project Natal will have its own internal processor, and a ton of support from developers known for more than just making family party games, it will accomplish things that the Wii (or the God Rest Its Soul Eye Toy) never has or never will do in its current state.

One last point, look at where Microsoft started – The year was 2001, dead last, new kid on the block, going up against the largest gaming corporation around – the mighty Sony. Fast forward to today. Microsoft has done an amazing thing given the gigantic install base and head start Sony had. The one question I would ask to all the Sony execs, if they’ve still got jobs is: “How in the world could you muck that up!” I’ve said it before and will say it again: That’s like an NFL football team being up 42-0 at the half and loosing the game.

My PS3 brethren, you’ve got a choice to make, wait around for the PS4 to come along and get it right, or as the saying goes…

these figures are US only, recent research by a staff member over at thesixthaxis.com has revealed that the ps3 outsold the xbox in the month of november by 500,000 units worldwid. By no means am i a ‘playslave’ and i respect everything ms has done for the gaming industry with the xbox 360 because it is an amazing console with amazing games and much superior online play but sony has being playing catch-up and this year the played for real.

just try to learn facts and comeback to reality, it’s better before repeating always the same lies : sony has the best games since two years (facts : just look at GOTY and metacritics) and ps3 outsell 360 worldwild, even if the best hardware (performance and innovation) cost a lot , they don’t loose money with huge bluray sells, softs, ps3 now, etc, (economic recession and yen too strong don’t help to make huge benefices), microsoft make some money too, but with enormous rrod loss and uggly big marketing (to brainwash you, americans), they don’t take more money than sony with games.

ps3 has more games again this years, and they have sold well (2 millions uncharted, killzone, etc) even some multis sold regularly better on ps3 (pes, fifa, etc)
Sony start to have the success they deserve, and xbox is just lagging all the way behind (library, graphics, videos, fonctionality, even online : free on ps3, and often reals servers, not shitty p2P : for the gladitor with bad logic, numbers lies, when more young americans play more call of duty arcade noobs game, ps3 players have killzone, uncharted, , ratchet, demon’s soul, etc to play, and CALl of duty, for free)

Fact:

Since the release of the PS3 slim about 2.5 months ago, the PS3′s sales numbers have overtaken the 360′s sales numbers, and surpassed them by Half a million. Not only that, but amateur analysts (such as the one’s found rating systems on sites such as this) are starting to notice the value of the PS3 over the 360 due to all of the built in features such as blu-ray and wireless internet.

Not only that, but PS3′s new “It only does Everything” slogan, as well as it’s new advertising campaign being both witty and hilarious, is starting to catch the eye of the public (prevalent in the sales numbers). All of the advertising I’ve seen lately has been for PS3 on basically every network, so they’re finally getting the word out about it. That was one of the problems the PS3 had before (in terms of sales numbers). Sony just didn’t advertise it. I say, FINALLY.

The Xbox 360 had a year-long head start, which is a huge advantage going into a new generation of consoles. Sony, having lost an exceedingly large amount with the launch of its console, has made leaps and bounds towards the breaking even point and closing the gap between them and their competitors. Props to them.

Lack of PS3 sales?? Where have you been the past year? PS3 sales have increased greatly and have now overtaken the 360′s sale numbers in 3 major regions ( Asia, Europe and Middle East ). Your lack of knowledge is insulting to gamers and gamers alike. Yes, Sony may have had a head start in the gaming industry but since when did that matter? For example the Wii has outsold the 360 and PS3 since its launch and even though the 360 got a year head start its still getting its a** knunchucked back to America. My point is, head starts dont mean s**t especially when you have a defect like the RROD ravaging 75% of the launch units.

Now, on to games. Halo lost its WOW factor after number 2 and so what if COD MW2 has twice the amount of players on 360 , it is the most glitch filled game ever on the 360. From infinite ammo to no reloading, these have made the game unbearably annoying. Gears is amazing but EPIC took a step down with Gears 2, the game’s story is rubbish and could never stand up to the likes of Uncharted 2. For every 360 exclusive there is a PS3 excusive e.g Halo = Killzone, Gears = Uncharted, Alan Wake = Heavy Rain, Forza = GT. Comparing exclusives is like comparing d**k sizes and right now Sony’s is just that bit bigger.
I promise you here and now as long as there is a games industry there will be Sony and Playstation.

I apologise for the content of fanboyism in this article but i felt it was needed.
