Silent Hill: Shattered Memories sales disappoint, The Crystal Bearers starts off slow
January 17th, 2010 Posted in News, Posted by Valay, WiiIt isn’t shocking that Silent Hill: Shattered Memories and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers failed to make the NPD top 20 list for December video game sales. Unfortunately though, both titles have sold under 50,000 copies thus far.
Shattered Memories had almost a full month of sales, but The Crystal Bearers’ situation is a bit more complicated. Although the game was officially released on December 26 in North America, GameStop started selling it about a week early.
While there’s a glimmer of hope that FFCC: The Crystal Bearers will sell a bit better next month due to Square Enix’s commercials and other advertising for the title, the same cannot be said about Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. Shattered Memories has received critical acclaim and comes from an established franchise, yet it sold even worse than The Crystal Bearers in the month of December. Sales aren’t looking too great for both games right now. But hopefully there will be better news to report next month.

People are prob scared of silent hill due to games like the new alone in the dark. Even tho I love it so, they are killing the wii. No one trusts it anymore unless the game is mario or metroid and ect.

No people are starting to realize even these games are not what they are asking for. FFCC is just another spinoff which took way too long to be released and had “eghh” reviews and Silent Hill is just another remake of a PS1 game. Its simple, no more spinoffs and no more remakes, market you games with commercials on TV, and dont ever say your making a port to the HD systems of a Wii game because then you will lose even more sales!!!!

why shouldn’t it be disappointing!? this is Wii we are talking about! Gamecube was meant for kids now Wii is meant for Casual gamers.
If you want to make money developers, use CryEngine 3 or a better engine with good looking graphic and port the games to Xbox 360 or ps3!
You’ll not even make money on Metroid Other M or Golden Sun 3. If Resident Evil Archive did that bad.

What about Silent Hill Homecoming on the PS3?

are you fudging kidding me? do you even hear yourself? Metroid: Other M is a 1st party game and Golden Sun is probably gonna deliver on the gameplay side of things (seeing as how 1 and 2 are awesome)! you really shouldn’t talk with out knowing.

Shattered Memories is NOT A REMAKE! It takes characters from SH1 but is NOTHING LIKE IT!!! Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is amazing! Great story! And a game designed for both hardcore and casual players to play! Buy this game people! It’s what you’ve always wanted on the Wii! A game with a mature and layered storyline that makes pretty good use of the Wii controls! It has its few issues, but overall it was a Wii GOTY candidate and even a winner for some!

@xino: just because a game is in HD doesn’t make it a game for adults or a good game. we don’t play wii games cause they’re kiddy nor do we expect graphics to be awesome. what we’re looking for is creative and fun yet complex gameplay, which many wii games have succeeded in. innovation is key.
@voltaire: i think there were high expectations for these games, as they thought they had finally regained their mature audience’ interests. silent hill was good, but gamers these days are used to killing anything that comes their way, thus striking this game off. crystal bearers’ fun was killed by the bad camera. so yeah, these 2 games were anticipated to sell well…and didn’t.

According to the developers it was a re-imagining of the first game, they changedthe stort slightly and took away weapons and upgraded the graphics system. It is still based of the very first game so technically it is a remake, just and upgraded/edited one. Plus to make things worse they made a downgraded PS2 version. If it isnt a new original game from the ground up and if it isnt Wii exclusive then it wont sell bottom line. Make the main games in the series on Wii and market them, its not a hard formula to master !!! MH3 is a great example of something that is exclusive, built from the ground up for Wii and a main entry in the series. This is what I am talking about. Now lets hope it never gets a downport to PS2or PSP and I will be happy.

Whoever said the Gamecube was meant for kids is a moron. The Gamecube had better games than the Xbox……much better.

Re-imagining is a more apt description, but a remake it is not. The characters are there in name only. They don’t look the same, hell their appearance changes based on your actions. The town is not the same, the layout is completely different. The setting of the town is not the same. The story is nothing at all like the first game. There is simply no resemblance outside of a few visual homages. It isn’t a remake, it’s a re-imagining.
Besides which, the Wii version is the best version and the graphics are some of the best seen on the Wii, it’s not some half assed made game. The PS2 and PSP are ports and won’t play as well as the Wii version. SH isn’t a best selling franchise. It needs to be multiplatform to make up sales. If this one sold well on the Wii, no doubt the next one could simply be Wii-exclusive.

Silent Hill has never been a best selling series. Hell, someone here has already noticed that its selling very well indeed compared to the 360 Homecoming, yet you didnt see any sensationalist articles written about that. Sites (and apparently even Nintendo-centric sites) tend to play this card of bashing the Wii because its a hot button for all the fanboys. Theres no water to the argument.
FFCCCB is a cheap, quick, and (according to accumulative reviews) poor spin off. If anyone expects this crap to sell as much as FF13, theyre out of their minds. “Real” gaming efforts on the PS360 are complimented by crap like this, cheap spin offs.

Can’t say I’m surprised by this. How much advertising did these games have?
By JoshZTP2 on Jan 20, 2010
Who ever follows sales figures anyways or take them seriously anyways; the developers or gamers?! It’s the developers to take sales seriously; but it’s up to the gamers to buy the games! Try to have the decency to have respect for the games & their systems people; that’s all I have to say… END OF FREAKING STORY!!
I’m a proud owner of Final Fantasy Crystal Bearers; & I’m loving the game!

Shattered Memories sales are higher than the sales from the last PS3-Silent Hill.
I don’t know why some people always try to make some Horror-News about the Wii sales.

this console blows, the new silent hill definitely deserved much better sales. Hopefully the developer won’t give up and put it on ps3 once the wand comes out this year, it will easily sell better on sony platform which isnt filled with casuals and nostalgic fanboys.
