Industry insider rumor: Nintendo announcing new platform at GDC

February 3rd, 2010 Posted in General Nintendo, Posted by Valay, Rumors

This information comes from an employee at a major international publisher…

“Just heard a rumour that you may be interested in: Nintendo are going to announce a new platform at GDC. Some devs have already started work on it.”

The insider didn’t say whether the “new platform” is a handheld or console device. Also, while the insider is positive that the platform exists, he isn’t sure if Nintendo will choose to unveil it at GDC or if they will save it for another venue, such as E3.

DSi XL just came out and Wii sales are causing profit trouble so there is no question that it will be a home console. I knew this would happen this year, although I thought it might be possible they would push it back to next year to see if people like natal type controls.

And I think it will be revealed to public at E3 and for developers in top secrecy at GDC. When is GDC scheduled anyway?

It will be interesting to see how much rendering power the system will have, considering how many stream processors modern GPUs have compared to those in 360/PS3.

dude its probably the nvidia handheld that was rumoured. Nvidia said the tegra second generation would be ready in 2010 and would be 50% sales on it with and unknown videogame developer and everyone was saying nintendo was checking out the tegra at GDC last year or something. Ds came out before the wii, gameboy came out before cube expect the handheld first AND THE console second
