    When combine the DS SKUs into one family and the PSP SKUs into one family, the DS family beats the latter family by a very small margin. Once again, it shows that the DSi LL and DSi are actually helping DS sales overall and does not seem to canibalize DSi sales. When comparing the Wii with the other home consoles for the month, it outsold its three competitiors combined by 139,693 units.

    462,752 for the PSP family of 2 consoles
    465,917 for the NDS family of 3 consoles.

    This isn’t to take away from the success of the DS as it is doing very well overall, but for the PSP itself to be extremely close to those figures by itself is no small feat. The PSPgo barely contributed to that; showing that Sony really needs to drop the price of that thing to push its sales further.

    @Thomas

    Let’s see:
    Wii 385,452 -

    PS3 272,512
    Xbox 360 24,393
    PS2 13,965 (since you said three competitors…)

    Total 74582

    So, not really sure where you get the 139693…

    Typo in the article, it says the complete totals for October have been calculated. It should say January.

    I predicted that for the 2010 calendar year, the PS3 would outsell the Wii in Japan by at least 1 million units. I still stand by that prediction even though the Wii has taken a fairly surprising early lead.
