Rumor: Sonic to be a playable character in Super Mario Galaxy 2?

February 5th, 2010 Posted in Posted by Valay, Rumors, Wii

This is one of the strangest rumors I’ve ever lately. NGamer has posted some messages on their Twitter account claiming Sonic will be playable in Super Mario Galaxy 2. That speculation apparently comes “from a trusted source.” NGamer also said that Sonic will have his own levels in the Green Hill Galaxy. This definitely seems fake to me, but then again, stranger things have happened.

“We’ve just had some shocking news from an inside source at Nintendo: Sonic will be a playable character in Mario Galaxy 2! Wha?…More teasing from our insider: Sonic levels will be in ‘Green Hill Galaxy’…”

    I can see it now…

Nintendo: Alright, you schmucks. This is how you would make a Sonic game.

Sega: Oh… The level design? And the innovative enemies, the minimalist characters and momentum-based speed? … Thank you, friends, for showing us the light. Maybe now we can correct what was once right…

    Nintendo: Glad to hear it.

    *Months later*

Sonic the Hedgehog 4! Featuring a level where Mario gets piss-ass drunk, gets addicted to ‘shrooms, and beats his wife Peach! Help Sonic in the engaging storyline that promises to use the real super power of teamwork!

    Nintendo: GODDAMMIT.

Woah, WHAT?!?! That’d be the biggest shock since
    (A) “Zelda’s going cel-shaded? No way!”
    (B) “Metroid? A FPS? No way!”
    (C) “Snake and Sonic in Brawl? No way!”
    (D) “They’re gonna call it the WII?! No way!”

Personally I think that’d be pretty cool… Nintendo and Sega, once bitter enemies, now being combined.

I agree with Hejiru, I think this idea of having Sonic in Super Mario Galaxy 2 is a cool concept. I’d like to see what a sonic themed galaxy would look like in the game too! But it does seem extremely unlikely that sonic would make an appearance in the main mario series.

I can imagine it being an extra after you beat the game or something… But even then it’d be weird.

It’s a bit early for April Fools. Still, I can’t imagine Sonic and Mario together doing anything together but fighting each other or participating in various sports-based minigames.

I seriously wont buy it if it has sonic as an available character. In Brawl and the olympic games its fine, but dont mess with my Mario Galaxy!

If this is true (which I strongly doubt but really hope it is), I have an awesome idea for working it into the story:

While approaching the Green Hill Galaxy, Mario is ambushed by Eggman/Robotnik and is captured. Sonic witnesses this from the ground and dashes off to help his friend/rival. Several stages of platforming heaven follow. Finally, Sonic confronts Eggman and frees Mario only to face his toughest opponent yet – for the evil doctor has used Mario’s life data to create his most evil creation ever: Mecha Mario.

    Dun dun DUN!

here’s my idea, it’s CALLED MARIO AND SONIC: WORLDS COLIDED here’s the plot eggman’s experiment goes wrong and makes a rift between the sonic and mario universes eggeman and bowser joins forces and so does mario and sonic all the godamned characters are in it u can make a team of mixed characters each have unique abilities many paths to takes and…. u can make the rest up lol
