3DS update out now (version 11.6.0-39)

Posted on September 18, 2017 by (@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News

Another 3DS update is now available. Nintendo has just issued the latest firmware, version 11.6.0-39.

Those expecting new functionality will be left disappointed. Nintendo says of the update: “Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience”.

These patch notes have actually been the exact same for the past two years. The last notable update was in March 2015 when Nintendo added a Home Menu Layout setting so that users could save and load up to eight layouts with different theme and software icon arrangements.

I don’t know why but that’s just sad

And we still don’t have a way to take screenshots and save them on the SD. And never will have.

you can do that through homebrew, save pictures of any game at any time to your sd card. (even stream games too)

…and of course those are exactly the kind of things these updates have been attempting to patch out.

Its all attempts to patch out vulnerabilities and prevent hacking. A rather useless attempt if I might add,

    • Alex Seian

the patches are directed towards nullifying homebrew exploits rendering them useless. they obviously dont want other users to learn what homebrew is so that why theyre sticking the “Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience” copypasta

Just when you think 3DS is rock solid, Nintendo techs temper in even more stability!

Who hacked their 3DS to get free games? 🙂

Me, I’m a criminal. I’m still waiting to make piracy with Mighty No.9 3DS.

Oh look, out bi-monthly firmware update is here to quash the exploits for about two days before another one is found.

    • Emtu

Nah, one has been found that they can’t patch out without unreasonable effort.

Actually, for at least a year now there’s been Luma custom firmware, and it’s safe to update and keep every mod on the 3DS you have as soon as an update comes out. Nintendo hasn’t been able to patch that, and now there’s a way to install it on any firmware on any system model, and it’s not able to be patched with a firmware update because it’s a hardware exploit. Nintendo lost, but this is their attempts to try and say they didn’t.

I was expecting them to remove miiverse – wait nevermind “we still need that icon” – Nintendo

Stop Nintendo. Just f***ing stop. Add something or leave it the f*** alone.

  • The only way to improve the 3DS’s stability further is to chill it to absolute zero.

Be even better with a still image. Maximum stability!

      • 3DS got so stable that even when shaking it’s stable

  • rasmusolle

It better be stable enough to build a house with it now.
