I get more impressed with every bit of game footage. The world’s scale’s easily one of the largest this gen. It outdoes Opoona’s world in sheer engrossing scale by far, and that’s been my favorite RPG of the generation so far. I played through much of Rogue Galaxy last year, and in a lot of ways, this reminds me of that, but done far larger, deeper, and better overall. After this and The Last Story, it makes me wonder what kind of huge scale first party Wii RPG Level-5 could pull off if Nintendo decided to work with them on one. Level-5′s Nintendo collaborations have largely been a lot better than their games with Sony, which have a track record of looking great and having some decent ideas and mixed gameplay with utterly forgettable music and throwaway plots. Tackling an ambitious scale first party original RPG with Nintendo could yield something amazing, considering their overall Nintendo platform track record. Though I do believe they’ll be heavily involved in Dragon Quest X’s development, as with the previous two. Can’t wait for that one to take shape and the media flow to begin.
