Rayman Origins could hit Wii, 3DS
July 5th, 2010 Posted in 3DS, News, Posted by Valay, WiiIt’s been a number of years since we’ve seen Rayman in a classic platforming adventure. However, Ubisoft finally unveiled new, proper entry in the series at E3 last month. The good news is that, while the title has been confirmed for release on HD consoles, there’s a chance that the game could end up on the Wii, the 3DS, and other formats as well.
“Which format ?
HD Consoles for the end of the year
Wii, PC, iPad, 3DS to be considered.” – Rayman Origins blog post

I’d be surprised if it didn’t hit at least one Nintendo platform in the long run. Cute, cartoony games like Rayman have a well established track record of not selling regardless of associated brandname on the HD consoles. The Raving Rabbids spinoffs have done very well with the Nintendo crowd – Rayman Origins stands to make the most money on Nintendo fans. Focusing the series elsewhere would make about as much sense as making a Beyond Good & Evil sequel HD focused after the PS2 and Xbox crowds ignored the original game where the Gamecube crowd paid it more notice, as the Nintendo crowd’s the only one with a track record of actually buying Zelda clones. Ubisoft was memorably FURIOUS over how badly BG&E flopped.
