Namco Bandai still aren’t planning to bring Tales of Graces overseas

July 31st, 2010 Posted in News, Posted by Valay, Wii

This information comes from Namco Bandai’s Facebook page…

“Firstly, thank you all for your excitement around the series. We also love the series here at Namco of America and are working with our Japan counterparts to determine if we’ll see US releases for these games. Unfortunately, we don’t currently have any plans to bring Tales of Graces to the US. If this changes, we’ll let you know as soon as we can!”

Well, I can’t say I’m surprised. I had hoped we’d hear something about the title E3, but of course, Namco Bandai didn’t mention the title at all. The only way North American/European gamers might be able to play Tales of Graces is through the recently announced PS3 version, though even that is doubtful right now.

Sadly typical. Namco’s been going out of their way to troll their entire fanbase and acting especially vicious toward their Nintendo base for quite some time now, even despite the fact that the Wii’s by far the most profitable console for them this gen. There’s no sense to be made of it when looking at it rationally – Tales of Graces and the One Piece Unlimited Cruise games are money begging to be made, and a Wii Katamari would actually be profitable where the PS3 and 360 ones were not. The current management at Namco’s western branch has lost all touch with the gaming market these days.

Well there is also a translation in the works by the same people that translated Fatal Frame 4, so all you will need to do is get the import version and use the patch when it is ready (probably around the end of this year). As I understand it you do not need to mod your Wii in order to use this patch.

First, no western release for Tales of Graces, and now, the game is being ported to the PS3 with additional content!?
