EA confirms no online multiplay for NBA Jam Wii
September 7th, 2010 Posted in News, Posted by Valay, WiiThis information comes from EA Sports Community Manager Alain Quinto…
“not on the Wii (online multiplayer). It will on XBOX 360 and PS3.”
Well, that’s a real shame. I know a lot of Wii owners will be disappointed, and I can’t blame them! EA did say that they were trying to support online in the Wii version, but it didn’t work out for whatever reason.

And with that note they killed any chance of selling well on the Wii, another washed up version for Nintendo players instead of a full version of a game. And to think this started as a Wii exclusive. This is what hapens when you spread your resources to thin to cover other systems. This game had a chance as an exclusive, now it has none if the other systems get a more complete game :/

And once it fails (as it is now destined to be) EA will use this as an excuse to further limit development for the Wii and concentrate on the HD consoles, just like they did with Extraction, a game that was sure to be a failure no matter what the moment it was announced it will be on rails and not like its HD counterpart.

I have already cancelled my preorder of this and replaced it with Mario Sports Mix.
I’ll never trust EA again.

Figures. I don’t know why companies do this. No wonder Nintendo won’t and ain’t getting nowhere.

That’s bullshit. Didn’t they say they were working on an online mode shortly after it was announced? Oh well. I’ll just have to get it for 360 now. Hooray! Another 3rd party Wii game gets watered down! Thanks dicks!

I’d much rather have the original on VC anyway

I’m still getting this when it hits 10 bucks for the wii. I have a PS3 but like my NBA Jam competition in the same room. It’s just not the same when the other person you are playing against is in an entirely different place.

After the trainwreck that the Need for Speed series has been in (maybe Criterion can save it), did anyone really expect much out of EA? Based on the previews, I’m sure the actual game itself is good fun. Adding on-line would just be a bonus. What irks me is how EA has handled promoting the game. “It’s a Wii exclusive” (but not really!) They should’ve waited to announce PS3/Xbox360 versions after the Wii version was released. I still plan on getting it since I don’t have the other systems, but I think Activision would’ve handled this a little better.

They should have just delayed the game until they got the online working…. its just that they are being lazy and trying to make a fast buck off this game.

agreed, thought I heard them say they got it to work at 30 fps, don’t really mind as long as it’s playable
