Rumor: 3DS arriving in Japan this November

September 12th, 2010 Posted in 3DS, Posted by Valay, Rumors

In a little over two weeks, we will know how much the 3DS will cost and when it’ll go on sale in Japan. But until then, it’s a given that we’ll see different speculation about those two desired details. Today, there is a rumor going around that the upcoming handheld will hit Japanese retailers on November 20. That claim comes from a Keys Factory designer, a company well-known for making different Nintendo accessories, including add-ons for the DSi LL. The designer tweeted the following:

“On November 20th, the 11 goods I designed for use with the 3DS will go on sale simultaneously. Those of you buying the 3DS, please buy them while you’re at it! This will be officially announced on the homepage eventually, lol. Best regards.”

At this point, the November 20 release date is certainly possible. Back in 2004, Nintendo revealed in September that the handheld would be out in early December. The only difference here is that the company would be planning a late November launch for the 3DS in Japan. At least we won’t have to wait too much longer to find out if this rumor is valid!

Thanks to Danny and Mark K for the tip!

I would personally bet good money on a November release this year. They’ve got enough first and third party titles together for a solid launch lineup, considering that many games were fairly far along, and in general, development cycles on the 3DS shouldn’t be astronomically long.

Plus, given their recent pattern of announcing game release dates, prices, and launch lineups in the September before November launches – done with both the DS and Wii prior to this – it follows perfectly. The holiday launch is the sweet spot to rule the holidays for yet another year in a row, as Nintendo’s been doing. Any later and they miss a critical window and they know it, and they certainly won’t delay it until holiday ’11. That’d kill a lot of hype. Right around the date provided here is pretty much the sweet spot they’ve established, so I’d bet we’ll see it launch everywhere then.

I still believe that it will come out in Japan this Nov and Europe and the United States in March of 2011. Do you know what would really be kickass. A worldwide launch with a worldwide marketing blitz that the world has ever seen. With all the money they have they can do it, and it would be pretty damn amazing.

I love the DS, but I’m not buying a 3DS. Why? Because it’s facing the exact same problem the PSP faced years ago.

Ports, ports, and more ports. People do not want to play significantly inferior versions of console games on a tiny screen. Point blank period. It doesn’t matter if the games are ‘enhanced’ by 3D tech, people just don’t want to spend hours upon hours having the ‘inferior’ experience of popular games.

So it’s cool that ‘hardcore’ developers are supporting it at launch, but when their support is -literally- nothing but ports and more ports … well, see the PSP for reference.

How many ports do you think there are? Just being curious here. I’ve only counted Ocarina of Time – which is obviously getting a full makeover, and from what Aonuma’s said, there’ll be at least some new content to look forward to – Starfox 64 (Which we’ve only seen a makeover for so far), Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Street Fighter IV, and that new MGS may be a new version of 3, but Kojima’s referred to it as a new game.

The rest of the software announced and shown so far looks to be entirely new. And even Street Fighter IV’s apparently going to have some new exclusive content – Capcom seems to be working on making it a more definitive release of the game.

    could be true!
    TGS takes place this week!

  10. By waza on Sep 12, 2010

@xino, i didn’t think Nintendo were going to be at TGS?

Hence there being that Sep. 29th announcement date for the price and regional release dates on the system.

Do not a lot of money to buy a car? Worry no more, just because this is possible to receive the business loans to resolve such kind of problems. Thence take a bank loan to buy everything you require.

This site appears to recieve a good ammount of visitors. How do you get traffic to it? It gives a nice individual spin on things. I guess having something authentic or substantial to say is the most important thing.
