Miyamoto provides The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword status update

December 21st, 2010 Posted in News, Posted by Valay, Wii

At E3, Shigeru Miyamoto said that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword was nearly complete. In fact, at a roundtable discussion following Nintendo’s press conference, Miyamoto explained that the game would have already been released had Twilight Princess’ art style been used. It seemed as though only the game’s dungeons and bosses needed to be worked on before the title could ship to stores.

But perhaps Skyward Sword isn’t as far along as we thought. In an interview with Pocket-lint, Miyamoto stated that the game is “over half complete.” Based on the wording used, I wouldn’t be so sure that Skyward Sword will be released in early 2011, as was originally promised. Miyamoto went on to discuss his interest in making the game “very dense.”

“What we are focused on is creating gameplay mechanics so the gameplay experience feels very dense. In fact, the overall experience is going to feel more dense. We hope that people will want to go back and replay the game once they finish it.”

Dense is good, Twilight Princess was definitely too “spread out”. A lot of variation would be nice too.

And to think the whole game was finished, all they needed to finish was some minor bugs.

I got a ”other M”-feeling about this game, if you know what I mean…

The wait for Skyward Sword has been KILLING ME for a good long time now; & even long before that since 2008!! It feels like Twilight Princess all over again; since I waited for that since 2004!! I seriously wish 2011 can go by quickly; pretty much like 2010 has! I need my ZELDA NOW!! :'(

But after looking at the other recent/same articles (like in the comments on GoNintendo & NintendoLife); I can see there are lots of annoyed fan boys who share my pain!! ;)

The ONLY thing I can ACCEPT about his Skyward Sword news update; is that it just gives Nintendo & the Zelda teams more time to work on it! I wasn’t expecting a Spring release to begin with! As BAD I want the new Zelda; I want it to be PERFECT… especially the story!! Even with the SECRECY about the entire game; I want to be SURPRISED day one whenever it does EVENTUALLY COME OUT in 2011!! :)

I just hope for a Summer Release; (like how Super Mario Galaxy 2 was)! I mean if Miyamoto says it’s “halfway done”; then judging from all of the speculation it has to come out sometime during June-September?! ;)

I’ll be seriously pissed though if I have to wait until November December of 2011; for I DON’T WANT TO WAIT THAT LONG! :'(

I just hope the long wait for next E3 isn’t a long one! ;)

I just hope that by this time next year I’m still playing the game.

… Well, apparently, the interview was made back in June before “Zelda Wii” was revield as Skyward Sword.

So the game must be almost completed by now.
