DSi has 256 megabytes of internal memory

November 1st, 2008 Posted in DS, News, Posted by Valay

Back in October when the DSi was announced, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata revealed that the system would have flash memory much like the Wii. Now, however, we finally know how much memory the DSi supports. A recent writeup notes that the DSi has 256 megabytes of internal memory.

“The only piece of content available under the DSi Ware option at the moment is the free Opera browser. The download takes 85 blocks of your 1,024 block space. While not listed in the system’s official specs, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said during a recent investor briefing that the internal memory consists of 256 megabytes, which is half that of the Wii.”

So what if the DSi’s memory will be that much; as we’d would’ve figured it out by now that it’d be half the size of the Wii?! There’s nothing wrong with it people!!! ;)

Still I bet many people will complain about a lack of space… but that’s what the DSi’s SD card is for…

And don’t go saying that we need a storage solution for the DSi now… that’ll be just WAY OVER THE LINE, for you whinny fanboys!!!

Somehow I bet Nintendo will do the same thing and just give us an upgrade you can download to allow faster loading times and directly to the SD card… like what we just might get for the Wii as a storge solution!!!

    Sigh!!! :(

I like it and I’m not sure on this but what other Handheld has a internal memory for your games?

Yeah, but this is Nintendo people!! You all had it coming… couldn’t anybody sense it; other than myself?! ;)

Josh, I don’t think it’s a matter of being a whinny fanboy in the slightest. :P

It’s just a pain when you have only downloaded a few WiiWare and VC titles only to find out you have to transfer data back and forth between the SD card and your system. And unfortunately, there are times when it can take a VERY long time for that data to transfer.

Yupp, it can take long, Valay. But i mostly copy the games to my SD card shortly after i downloaded them in some game-free time. And the recopy to your internal memory is not sooo slow in my opinion. I got quite used to that, though i would really prefer a storage solution like the one Josh mentioned. For Wii and DSi.
