Chances of Disaster in North America slim after the game fails to dent European charts

November 4th, 2008 Posted in News, Posted by Valay, Wii

Even though Disaster: Day of Crisis is anything but a disaster as far as the actual game goes, much drama has taken place, which, oddly enough, has been created by Nintendo. The whole game, as most know by now, is completely voiced over in English. Yet believe it or not the game still has no release date in North America and the latest news is a strong indication that the game may never arrive in North American shores. The official word coming out of E3 about Disaster in North America seemed to be that sales in Europe would be the decisive factor as to whether or not the game would release. However, the latest European sales charts show that not only did the game fail to reach the top ten games, but also, it is not even in the top fifty list of titles.

Obviously, this isn’t very good news for those hoping that Disaster would eventually release in North America. Poor sales, coupled with discouraging remarks from Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime, indicate that Day of Crisis may very well stay exclusive to the Japanese and European markets.

I would be very sorry for you guys! I mean i bought my copy day one and though the games has some little flaws it’s a refreshing take on story driven arcady action titles. So quality-wise it would deserve to sell at least as good as The Force Unleashed. Okay, it has no Star Wars license. But hell, who cares.
So, more advertising would have been needed. Same goes for Wario Land and even more hurting De Blob, which i personally find to be one of the best Wii games ever.
Another little factor might be that our Gamestop charged 59.99 € for the game while the suggested retail price (SRP) is about 50 €. Talk about overcharging.

Shame, really. The game’s concept is very interesting, so I`ll see if I can get my hands on an European copy then.

Well maybe next time a game is developed in english it should be released in America 1st and if it sells well then other territories, not the other way around, Nintendo’s biggest sales are in America, if it fails here you can assume the same elsewhere !

As much as i logically double your opinion here, Anthony. I’m very glad we Euros got the game. I’m sorry for you nonetheless.
