How does Mega Man X9 in the 16-bit style sound?

November 12th, 2008 Posted in News, Posted by Valay, Wii

Following the success of Mega Man 9 and its classic style, Capcom was ready to discuss Mega Man X9 in the 16-bit style.

“16 bit style eh? Retro but not as retro as 8-bit. Neat idea and I’m not sure what Infaune-san is cooking up on that front at the moment. I think we’re still waiting to see what the trailing sales of MM9 look like before we evaluate any other projects of that nature.” – Christian Svensson, Corporate Officer/VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development

Yes, yes, yes! Go for it. It is a must! :D

  3. By LTD on Nov 13, 2008

It doesn’t sound so bad. ;) But it was the right decision to release Mega Man 9 first.

I think that releasing MMx9 wouldn’t work too well for a console, but would be completely addictive for a mobile phone platform. I would love to see how game play would work on a phone like the Krave by motorola (motorola.com/krave). Ever since I started working with them I have become a huge fan of the device’s touch screen and 2 MP camera. Top Pick!

    @ m goode

Wow, viral marketing much? Megaman X + phone = barf

Any respectable game + phone = barf, really.

    Enjoy your shallow minigames.

NO, NO and NO! At least in 32 bit, like X 4, 5 & 6, but not like the 1st 3 in the series. I know alot of people that enjoyed 5 & 6 especially.

They need to make it hardcore, and good voice actors aswell.

  7. By v.r.zero on Jan 30, 2009

NO————!!!! should launch in 32-bits 2D (Example: Megaman X 4-6 or Megaman Zero-ZX series).

16-bit 2D is only for minigames.

Capcom should make it an option in the game, either modern sound or 16 bit, which will appeal to a much wider audience, between old school and modern.

Also, can’t wait to see a Megaman X9!

  9. By Ikusa on Feb 14, 2009

Yes. This is what a want. For Mega Man X to return to its original roots. Hell even a 32-bit MMX9 would suffice. But I’d much rather see a 16-bit X9. I was dissapointed with X8 and X7 as neither of them retained the 2D look and feel.

  10. By Lynn on Mar 31, 2009

Yes. Mega man x 7 was a disaster. Mega man x 8 was passable. I’d like the series to end by returning to its roots as well. A 16 bit mega man x game with as much depth as the 32 bit games would be very pleasing.

It may be just me but…me&my brother liked most of the mega man games.sure some had bad graphics&crappy voiceovers.but hay we liked them anyway.they were at least playable.who here has realy defeated sigma in ONE try from X3-X8??Who here wants to see Capcom make mega man x9 a reality??I personaly loved X4-X8.What do y’all think of Command Mission??

  12. By Mike on Apr 15, 2009

16 bit, 32 bit. Next Gen, cell shaded… I don’t care! Just do it!! The Megaman X Series MUST continue!!!!

  13. By Brandon on Apr 27, 2009

I believe it should be 32 bit. If it had some voice acting in it too would also be great, but as a download I don’t think Capcom will go that far. If I had to settle for a 16 bit X9, sure why not! as long as i get MegaMan X9 in some form Ill be happy!

  14. By Jeremy on Apr 29, 2009

Okay to the comment to Lynn Megaman X7 was not a disaster you may not like it but I say Capcom made it perfectly well with a 2d & 3d & comment to Ikusa you must be asleep Megaman X8 was a much better Improvement so anyways for Megaman X9 I say a 32 bit would be great.

  15. By Mauricio on Apr 30, 2009

    hey
capcom have to do a megeman x9 for wii
    and with 3D grapicks
I don’t want to see a Snes game
in a console like the wii
in that case I better play my Snes and but megaman x

  16. By Austin on May 2, 2009

Are you kidding me? Screw the SNES, and the NES, and the phone. Megaman X9 must (repeat: MUST) be released on the Wii, PS3, and/or PC.

PLEASE COME OUT WITH X9 BUT NOT WITH SUCH SHITTY GRAPHICS AS THE SNES OR NES. PLAYSTATION, WII, AND PC ROCK

  17. By Blake on May 23, 2009

    X9! X9! X9! X9!!! I DON’T CARE IF IT’S 16-BIT, 32-BIT, 8-BIT, OR 3D! I JUST WANT X9 TO BECOME A REALITY!

  18. By Rockman X on Jun 12, 2009

If they are making another serious Megaman x 9 game it should be new graphics. Some people think old graphics are good and so do I. I still play Megaman X 1-3 on my SNES. But I think the story will be told better with good cut-scenes like in X8. The story wasn’t told very well in Megaman 9.

  19. By ShadowEXP on Aug 1, 2009

Hope its like Megaman x4 but with megaman x graphics. And hopefully give us great story great control and graphics.

  20. By Matt on Aug 4, 2009

I think it should be 16-bit and for the wii, but it doesn’t matter too much as long as they make a megamanX9.

  21. By Kamehamehadoken on Aug 5, 2009

I’d love to see the X series return to its roots, but not 16-bit. Seriously, why stop at 32-bit either? If we can go higher, why not? I’d just wanna see 2d sprites again, and waaaay more epic storyline. And more action. The boss fights have been dying down quite a bit.

  22. By Jordan on Aug 8, 2009

    I think it’d be awesome.
For all those people who think that the PS1 games (4-6) were “som much better” than the original 3….I hope you know how pathetic in popularity X was by X6….X6 not only was just frusterating to play for any X fan of the originals (not saying only frusterating for being hard..but just wasn’t..really fun) it din’t have the addicting feeling of the originals. Plus, this is more a talk of a classic retro game….not what looks better.

  23. By Fury on Aug 12, 2009

I loved the SNES games. That said, X9 should not use the SNES style. Plot wise, the art should be closer to the Zero series. I would love to see 16 bit Mega Man X again, however.

  24. By WillTheDragon on Aug 20, 2009

Yeah,I would like to see another X game.Would be awesome to see it in 16-bit.Though the megaman zero series had soe nice artwork to it.

  25. By 110010110 on Oct 28, 2009

Personally i would love for them to make an x9 game…..just not as easy as X7…. if they make it with bit graphics….something tells me Axl will look a bit strange

I have received several similar emails like this one.

I do not know if I understood but there are people saying that the mmX9 will be in 8 bit? if x8 is 128 bits the x9 had to be well. engage with the x9 face megaman x x1 x2 x3 x4 x5 or x6 I will not buy. I do not care if it’s in 2d and 3d I want to PLAY the megaman x9 faced a recent set some kind of xbox 360 games like assassin’s greed, I’m not saying that is to be released as it would be madness megaman hoping that neither he but I’m talking to launch it with good visual. if megaman x9 is that neither will be better x8 ja

  28. By Fahd Zarooni on Mar 1, 2010

I think is a good idea to make Megaman X9 in 16 style(SNES)

  29. By josue on Apr 20, 2010

    if 16bit is like megamanX4,5,6 then…….HELL YEAH >:D

  30. By shinkan on Apr 20, 2010

Id love to see a 2/3d game like its 2d but 3d graphics like how brawl is a 2d fighting but 3d graphics

Lets show capcom that we MMX fans want X9

  34. By Josh Owens on Jul 31, 2010

I’m hoping for 32 bit because megaman X5 is my favorite megaman game

  35. By Pietro3dartist on Aug 3, 2010

Though I’m love-sick for 3D, I really want a 16-bit mmx9 release. I Play megaman since nes and I finished recently the mmzx advent, but though it was cool to play, I think megaman lost its originality.
Actually, in my opinion, the megaman’s golden years was those between x1-x3.

So, let’s go develop an x9 like 16-bit, with its songs, life-bars and delays while catching energy charges, and of course, much more air dashes! hahahaha

    XD

  36. By traillio on Nov 14, 2010

X1-X3 were the best ALL HAIL 16 bit, just make a snes like megaman x the gameplay was far superior to x4-x8

  37. By DeadlyX3mo on Jan 13, 2012

that would be perfect.. 16 bits graphics are so epic.. x1 has the best soundtrack in entire X saga and the best game play x2 its so cool and that opening stage still goes arround my head and makes me headbang.. X3 its not bad but is my least favorite of snes saga cause at the final stages its so overpowered (i mean that golden armor and plus it the z saber you gave.. o please no one maverick will want to fight you xD) x4 x5 x6 of psone when i finish it i didnt gave that emotion of sussesfull.. x7 and x8 just suck to me.. there are a fan game called MMX Corrupted.. and i have anything to say about it.. thats its awesome.. capcom should learn his steps http://www.youtube.com/user/jkbproductions and.. the point is fans just want MMX9 in 16 bit and when will play it reminds our chillhood that like playing the first megaman x in snes.
