Nintendo releases first game patch for the 3DS in Mario Kart 7

May 15th, 2012 Posted in 3DS, News, Posted by Brian

The first 3DS game patch is now available on the eShop.

System owners can download a Mario Kart 7 update from the store which corrects glitches in the game. The patch is labeled “Mario Kart 7 Update Ver. 1.1″.

Many players had been taking advantage of exploits to gain the upper hand online. In Maka Wuhu, for instance, nearly half the course could be skipped by executing a certain move.

All Mario Kart 7 users must download the update before they can access the title’s online multiplayer features. Without the patch, players will be prompted to visit the eShop for the upgrade.

    Just downloaded it. Didn’t even realise what it was till I logged into the eShop.

    I think I’ll beat that one track’s Mirror Mode cup before downloading the patch. Nothing wrong with cheating when everything else in the game is stacked against you.

    WARNING! PLEASE READ!

    The update kills any flash cart usage (at least according to the posts I’ve seen on Reddit so far). My Supercard Two does not work, and from what I’ve heard, almost every other brand does not work either.

    Nintendo decided to use this patch that everyone would be so eager to download in order to secretly kill the flash cart loophole…until people find a way to open it again.

    Sorry, my previous post is actually “misinformation”. The previous 3DS update made the flash carts unusable. Some people on Reddit (and I) thought this patch was the one that caused it. I guess a lot of people don’t test their flash carts very often ;) . Sorry for any panic I may have caused.

    Just tried Maka Wuhu to see if it was indeed fixed. For the first time I’ve ever seen, no one cheated. It was glorious.

    Also, I wasn’t even aware that there was an exploit in Wuhu Loop.

    @Roivas

    Do expect me to feel sorry for you? Serves you right.
