Nintendo Consumer Service will replace broken Wii U GamePads “for a fee”

September 15th, 2012 Posted in News, Posted by Valay, Wii U

Wii U GamePads won’t be available in stores when the console launches on November 18. So what happens if you break the controller?

That’s where Nintendo comes in. The company will be replacing GamePads “for a fee.”

“Thanks for writing. I can appreciate your interest in the Wii U! To address your inquiries directly, I can tell you that individual replacement Wii U GamePad controllers will be available from Nintendo Consumer Service for a fee. In regard to warranty coverage for that accessory, at this time no specific announcements have been made. However, it’s worth noting that Nintendo warranties do not cover physical damage.”

And what about those with BROKEN WII’S… like MYSELF?!!! I SWEAR, my Wii problem of having my Wii not boot back up, (due to I still guess being bricked, even though I don’t know how it happened); has been bothering for a good long time!! And yeah I’ve self repaired my Wii before!!

This has been going on for almost 4 months now! And I’m not even sure if I can handle another 2 months until I get a Wii U… but HOW IN THE HECK am I supposed to TRANSFER my broken Wii’s VC & WiiWare games… HUH CUSTOMER SERVICE?!!!

If it broke truly without reason and it was within warranty, Nintendo will fix/replace it for free.

If you dropped it, homebrew’d it, or voided the warranty any other way, then you have to pay if it breaks. I’m sure the same goes for the Gamepad– if it’s physical damage, you pay for it. If it’s a hardware/software glitch, they’ll pay for it.
