Cardboard Robot Games’ new fighter, Pocket Rumble, has a chance of coming to the 3DS.

The project’s Kickstarter campaign recently added a stretch goal for the portable. But even if it isn’t reached, Cardboard Robot Games hopes to bring Pocket Rumble to the 3DS following the PC/Mac/Linux release. Full patch support is promised, and the 3DS version could support online multiplayer as well.

You can find Cardboard Robot Games’ message concerning the 3DS version below. Visit the official Kickstarter page here.

The campaign will need some generous funds to reach its $16,000 goal. Just four days remain, and a little over $5,000 has been raised thus far.

First of all, we’d like to thank everyone for helping us reach 5K! It may not seem like much given our 16K goal, and we’re definitely going to need to make a desperate push these last four days, but we’ve got some major publicity coming up shortly that should be a huge help.Keep your fingers crossed!

And speaking of things that might help, we’ve got a big announcement! A lot of you have asked about a 3DS version, and we said it wasn’t likely, but we heard your demand and we have decided to announce a 3DS port as a stretch goal!

The money for the stretch goal will be used to purchase a 3DS dev kit. We’re willing to do the work of porting it out of pocket, and hopefully the sales will make up for that.

We’re going to do our best to get online mutiplayer in the 3DS version, but right now we can’t make any promises, so we made the tough decision to push the 3DS stretch goal back behind story mode and challenge mode to ensure that there will be enough single player content for 3DS players. Regardless of whether there is online multiplayer, though, the 3DS version will receive full patch support.

As you’d expect, once the 3DS version is unlocked, backers will have the option to choose the 3DS version as the copy included in their reward.

If the stretch goal isn’t reached, we will still try our best to port the game over to 3DS sometime after the PC/Mac/Linux release, because we really want to see this game on a major portable console, but we’d need the sales to support it, so that’s far from a guarantee.
