The 3DS version of Shovel Knight has been updated to version 1.1, developer Yacht Club Games has announced. Grab it by heading to the eShop, visiting the “Settings/Other” tab, and then selecting “Updates”.

Today’s patch mainly addresses crash issues with the home menu. There is also an option in Shovel Knight’s main menu that makes updating to new versions easier.

Miiverse will be going through heavy maintenance starting tomorrow. The service will be affected starting at 6 PM ET / 3 PM PT, which lasts until Tuesday at 4 AM ET / 1 AM PT.

In other news, shop maintenance is scheduled for Monday. The Wii U and 3DS eShops, Wii Shop Channel, and DSi Shop will be unavailable between 4 PM ET / 1 PM PT and 8 PM ET / 5 PT.

Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse will receive an update in the future to take advantage of the New 3DS, WayForward has revealed.

Speaking with Siliconera, director Matt Bozon said:

“We’re really excited about the New 3DS! We have an update for Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse already underway, which will add a ‘quick select’ control scheme, as well as other minor improvements to the game. Look for that to arrive closer to the launch of the New 3DS in the US.”

Bozon did not say what sort of “minor improvements” will be included. However, it’s already been confirmed that Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse will run at 60 frames per second on a regular 3DS with stereoscopic 3D turned on.

Nintendo will be removing The Band of Thieves & 1000 Pokemon from the Japanese 3DS eShop next Tuesday, it has been announced. The game was released in June and was created in conjunction with Pokemon XY The Movie – The Cocoon of Destruction & Diancie. The film’s run ends in most theaters on September 30.
