Wii U

Ubisoft could be gearing up for a new Watch Dogs trailer tomorrow, or some kind of video.

The official Watch Dogs Twitter account sent out a message that mentions “pulling video”. There’s also a screenshot that has been partially blacked out.

Here’s the tweet in full:

All leaks related to Call of Duty: Ghosts thus far have not included Wii U. PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions have continued to appear, but there hasn’t been any news about the shooter coming to Nintendo’s home console – until now.

Spanish retailer XtraLife has listed Call of Duty: Ghosts for Wii U. XtraLife mentions a November 11 release date and gives a look at Ghosts’ boxart:

Call of Duty: Ghosts is rumored to be announced in just a few days, so we may hear something official from Activision shortly.

Update: A collector’s edition has been spotted on Wog.ch. It includes:

Silver, Gold & Platinum DLC
Aiden Figurine
Original Soundtrack
Artbook
Steelbook
Interactive Map of Chicago
3 Faction Badges
4 “Augmented Reality” Cards

Watch Dogs is getting a special edition, according to Netherlands retailer Game Mania.

Those who purchase Watch Dogs Special Edition will receive an additional single-player mission going by the name “Breakthrough Mission Pack”.

“There is secret meeting going on. The Chicago Club does power negotiations with CEOs of large companies. The club has hired scramblers to block. Monitoring devices Race through the city to find the scramblers and take them out. Grab all the names of those attending the meeting and upload their photographs for the rest of the world.”

Following the completion of the mission, players will earn the Vehicle Expert perk. This provides access to free vehicles through your Underground Car Contact and offers discounts on exclusive cars.

Game Mania’s listing likely applies to all of Europe. But will North America be getting the same special edition?

Game & Wario pre-orders have opened at major retailers. Amazon is taking reservations here while GameStop is allowing for pre-orders here.

GameStop originally listed a $40 price tag for Game & Wario. This appears to be the final price based on Amazon’s product page, though Best Buy is asking for $59.99. Best Buy’s own listing could very well be temporary.

During the Q&A session of Nintendo’s latest financial results briefing, one investor asked about third-parties when it comes to Wii U and the thought that the console contains “low power”.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata addressed this in three different “steps”:

Smaller devs and Nintendo Web Framework

– Nintendo wants to “expand the range of software developers”
– After their Nintendo Web Framework presentation at E3, Nintendo received inquiries from several hundred new developers
– Iwata feels that captivating titles will be born from this initiative and help to achieve their goal
– Teams working on this sort of software (such as Wii Street U and video-on-demand software that uses Nintendo Web Framework) are quite small, which allows for quick updates in a short time-span

Unity

– This has just recently started to be offered by Nintendo
– Iwata says that hundreds of thousands of developers for Unity exist, including developers in emerging nations
– Iwata believes that Nintendo has made it really easy to get them on board to release software on Wii U

Third-parties and Wii U power

– Iwata acknowledged that many people believe that Wii U is underpowered
– Iwata knows that Nintendo must work on remedying these misunderstandings
– He also knows that there are some third parties that are actively supporting Wii U, while others aren’t even giving it a second glance
– He wants to fix this by creating a situation in which third parties not currently actively supporting Wii U will regret that decision once third parties that did support it start to produce hits on the system
– This won’t happen right away, and it’s hard for them at the moment to persuade third parties to get on board given Wii U’s current state
– Nintendo is working on producing such results following Wii U’s “re-vitalization” on and after this summer

The next Call of Duty, rumored to be Call of Duty: Ghosts, could be set for a reveal next week. IGN has posted marketing material sent to retail stores that suggests an official announcement is just a few days away.

The item is a display blueprint that will be distributed to most GameStop outlets on April 29. They will be told to bring out the display on May 1.

Black Ops II just so happened to be revealed during the NBA Playoffs last year on May 1. We could be seeing a similar pattern with this year’s Call of Duty.
