Rumors

Original: Switch 2 speculation won’t stop until Nintendo makes an official announcement, and the rumor hill is heating up again with Ai Shark claiming that the console will launch in September 2024.

The news is tucked away in a press release about another matter, which is that Altec Lansing is the first licensee of Ai Shark’s gaming software. Furthermore, Ai Shark will be bringing back the GameShark brand in a different way. As old-school gamers will remember, GameShark is a series of cheat code devices. But now with Ai Shark, it’s AI-enhanced software that is designed to aid “individuals in improving their gameplay over time.”

Nintendo studio partnerships

According to a report from GamesIndustry, Nintendo has been exploring partnerships with new studios that will make games based on its IPs.

This in itself is nothing new. Nintendo’s partnerships with third-parties have been ongoing for many years such as MercurySteam taking on 2D Metroid, WayForward handling the Advance Wars remakes for Switch, and even lending the Zelda IP to Brace Yourself Games for Cadence of Hyrule. However, GamesIndustry reports that three studios are now “deep in conversation around making games based on Nintendo brands.”

Sonic Superstars DLC new game 2024

Information has seemingly come to light regarding SEGA’s plans for Sonic the Hedgehog, including DLC for Sonic Superstars and a new game entirely for 2024.

A brand and licensing presentation from SEGA of America was spotted that goes over the company’s overall plans for the franchise. Sonic Superstars, which is about to launch on Switch, will supposedly be getting DLC at some point next year. SEGA is also apparently planning a brand new Sonic game entirely for the 2024 holiday season, though the presentation doesn’t go into specifics aside from mentioning a “prologue” planned a few months before launch.

We have a look at the relevant slide below. Note that the presentation’s validity has not been confirmed – which is why we’re marking this as a rumor.

new mario voice actor

Original: The new Mario voice actor in Super Mario Bros. Wonder may have been discovered stemming from a new datamine. Nintendo said players would be able to find out who’s taken on the role from Charles Martinet when the game launches, but we seemingly won’t need to wait another week.

The game itself isn’t out yet, so you might be curious as to how a datamine could already exist. As it turns out, someone has managed to get their hands on the demo that recently popped up in stores across the country.

Switch 2 Gamescom 2023

Original: A new report from Eurogamer claims that during Gamescom 2023 last month, Nintendo showed Switch 2 to developers behind closed doors.

We previously reported that the company would be returning to the expo for the first time in years. Fans could play games such as Pikmin 4 on the show floor, but the more interesting action was happening behind closed doors.

We’ll be going over to the specific characters that have seemingly leaked, so keep that in mind before proceeding.

Metroid Prime 2 Zelda rumor

According to Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb, it may not be long until we see Metroid Prime 2 Remastered, and there’ll be something else happening with Zelda before the year is over.

Grubb was speaking about what he’s heard in the latest episode of the Last of the Nintendogs podcast. Regarding Metroid Prime 2, while it will now be in HD and with modern controls, “it’s not gonna get the love and care that Metroid Prime got”.
