Update: The official Retro City Rampage Twitter account has offered some clarification.

Retro City Rampage performed the best on the PlayStation Network. According to creator Brian Provinciano, who shared the breakdown of the game’s sales during a GDC panel, over $600,000 in revenue was generated through 35,000 copies sold on PSN – free PlayStation Plus copies not included.

PC was the second best-performing platform for Retro City Rampage, with most sales coming from Steam. From more than 40,000 units sold, the title collected over $400,000.

Another $200,000 came from Xbox Live Arcade thanks to 15,000 copies sold. And last but not least, WiiWare earned $100,000 with less than 5,000 copies sold.

Provinciano not only spent the most development time on the Xbox Live Arcade version, but also found it to be the most expensive. During his GDC panel, Provinciano said: “Knowing what I know now, I would’ve skipped it.” Retro City Rampage on WiiWare may have been a $20,000 gift to the fans, but in the end, the Xbox Live Arcade version took more out of Provinciano’s pockets.

For the time being, lifetime Retro City Rampage sales come in at around 97,000. Provinciano expects the total to surpass 100,000 next week.

Another round of Nintendo maintenance (“extended” this time, not “emergency”!) will be taking place on all of Nintendo’s platforms over the next few days.

The bulk of the downtime is happening today. Each one of Nintendo’s online shops will be down between 12 PM and 6 PM PT. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, and Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage 2 will be affected at different parts of the day as well.

Tomorrow’s maintenance is much lighter – only Pokemon Black/White 1/2 will see downtime.

The full schedule is posted below.

Dan Adelman is quickly becoming a prominent figure at Nintendo. The business development manager joined the company in 2005, and has pretty much been the man in charge – behind the scenes – for Nintendo’s indie involvement and digital offerings.

Gamasutra sat down with Adelman for a chat covering various indie and eShop topics. He confirmed the removal of Nintendo’s indie developer office space requirement and WiiWare threshold for all digital platforms. Adelman also talked about how indies set their own prices, can easily update their games, puchase a dev kit for “about the price of a high-end PC”, and more.

Head past the break for all of Adelman’s comments.

Capcom will be publishing DuckTales Remastered this summer, which is pretty crazy when you think about it. Not many expected the company to touch the NES title at this point.

DuckTales Remastered’s announcement begs the question: could we see releases of classic Disney-Capcom games on the Virtual Console? The answer is no, unfortunately.

Capcom’s Christian Svensson explained why on the company’s official forums:

At the moment, sadly no. Our agreement with Disney is just for Duck Tales in its new form. It does not allow us to rerelease these other projects on new platforms.

Super Turrican is missing on the Wii Shop Channel. We’re not actually sure when the game disappeared… but the point is, you can’t buy it any longer. It’s unclear why Super Turrican was pulled, but strangely enough, its sequel is still up on the digital store.

Team Meat could support Nintendo platforms in the future… under one condition. Edmund McMillen and Tommy Refenes, the studio’s primary staffers, want to see Meat Boy in a Smash Bros. game. If the character made it into the upcoming Wii U/3DS releases, Team Meat would be more than happy to make Mew-Genics – the company’s next game – for Nintendo.

McMillen: “I want Meat Boy to be in Smash Bros. That would be the one reason I’d really want to develop for a Nintendo console.”

Refenes: “That would be amazing! If they could guarantee us Meat Boy would be in Smash Bros., we would do something.”

McMillen: “Nintendo are you listening? Smash Bros! We would ask for nothing in return. Just f***ing use the character. Put him in the game. It’s free!”

Refenes: “If they wanted Mew-Genics or something and they could promise us Meat Boy would be in the game we’d develop Mew-Genics for them. Not exclusively, of course. This is how they would buy it from us. And that’s a very cheap price.”
