Wii U eShop

REDMOND, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Starting today, Wii U owners can take advantage of limited-time discounts on select indie games in the Nintendo eShop. Now through Feb. 13, fans who own any of the participating games already – or purchase one at full price during the promotion – will qualify to receive 60 percent off all other participating games.

The indie games that are participating in this exciting two-week Nintendo eShop sale include:

North America may not be getting Ninja Gaiden as its Wii U Virtual Console title for this week after all. Instead, it would seem that Zelda: A Link to the Past will be taking its place.

Ninja Gaiden’s listing has been removed on Nintendo’s site, but an entry for Zelda: A Link to the Past has appeared. Most would probably take Link to the Past over Ninja Gaiden here, so this is probably a good thing!

We’ll see how this pans out tomorrow.

Thanks to Jake for the tip.

The Wii U Virtual Console will be receiving DS support, Nintendo has confirmed.

Nintendo hasn’t shared concrete details, but the company suggested during its investor briefing today that the GamePad will split the game action in half – at least based on the image above.

A total of six Warner Bros. games have been discounted on the Wii U eShop. They’re as follows:

Batman: Arkham Origins – $39.99
Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure – $39.99
Scribblenauts Unlimited – $19.99
Injustice: Gods Among Us – $39.99
Hot Wheels World’s Best Driver – $19.99
LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes – $19.99

I’m assuming these are permanent drops as the eShop doesn’t mention an expiry date for any of these sales.

Thanks to GR for the tip.

Ping 1.5+ may or may not end up receiving a level editor on Wii U.

Developer Christopher Arnold mentioned on Twitter that the functionality could be added into the game in the form of an update. For now, he’s currently exploring what’s feasible.

In more general news, Arnold says that he’s “thinking now of exclusive Wii U features” to incorporate multiplayer.

Ripstone has shown strong support for Wii U thus far having already released Knytt Underground on the eShop, and Pure Chess to follow in the coming months. A third game from the publisher also appears to be on the way: Stick it to the Man.

USK has listed the platformer for release on Wii U. That’s not a concrete confirmation, but the German ratings board has been generally reliable in the past. Developer Zoink Games also recently teased upcoming news for Wii U.

We’ve reached out to Ripstone about Stick it to the Man’s USK listing, and will provide an update if we receive a response.

NG.DEV.TEAM previously confirmed Gunlord for the 3DS eShop, but it sounds like we can expect even more love from one of the game’s developers, René Hellwig, on Nintendo platforms going forward.

Hellwig told Nintendo Life that there are plans to support Wii U as well as 3DS. Redux: Dark Matters is one such game that could make its way on the eShop.

Hellwig’s comments in full:

We have plans for Wii U and 3DS. We think Redux would look amazing with stereoscopic 3D graphics! Since we developed the game on PC with HD graphics it will be easy for us to port the game to Nintendo consoles. Nintendo is more straightforward with Indie devs, and we believe that in the coming years Nintendo consoles will be a great place to publish Indie games.
