Wii U

At this point, most of you already know that the Wii U will need a day-one update to have a fully-featured console. It’ll bring along Miiverse support, Nintendo TVii, Wii U Chat, and the eShop. It’s now been confirmed that you’ll need to apply the update in order to access Wii functionality as well.

Without the download, Wii discs won’t be read. You’ll receive a notice saying that an update is required when attempting to play the game.

Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage 2 is expected to hit Japanese on January 31. The game will be released one month earlier – on December 20 – for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Like the PS3/360 release, Ken’s Rage 2 costs 7,800 yen on Wii U, and 8,190 yen with tax.

From the moment it was announced, ZombiU has been considered a title for the hardcore audience. That doesn’t mean less-experienced gamers won’t be able to enjoy the experience, however.

Ubisoft content design director Bogdan Bridinel feels that the Wii U’s asymmetric gameplay, which is something never realized before the system was introduced, will deliver “an experience that can be shared between a serious, hardcore gamer and a more casual friend, without the latter being completely outmatched.”

Bridinel explained to ONM:

“Asymmetric multiplayer hasn’t been explored very much by developers, so it enables us to create experiences that you’ve never had before. For ZombiU, specifically, it has enabled us to create an experience that can be shared between a serious, hardcore gamer and a more casual friend, without the latter being completely outmatched. Unlike the survivor gameplay, which is a traditional first-person experience, the ‘King Of Zombies’ gameplay has a more relaxed pace and is more about overall strategy than gamer reflexes honed over years, so it’s more immediately accessible. It creates a gateway for new players to get into the game before they acquire the courage to face the infected hordes face to face.”
