Sakurai: Capcom character could appear in next Smash Bros.

This information comes from Masahiro Sakurai…

“I can’t say that it’s entirely out of the realm of possibility that some Capcom character could appear in the next Smash Bros. The big problem, though, comes from the idea of trying to get characters from a completely different universe to fit with the style that has been dictated by Nintendo’s characters in a fighting game. In fact, I actually think it’s a miracle that we got Smash Bros. and all the Nintendo characters to work together in the first place. Especially when you bring Pokemon into the mix and a lot of the complications that are caused by that being an almost completely different entity on its own, it’s really something. So this is something that obviously will come up more as we get started on the new Smash Bros. development, but keeping those things in mind I think is important.”

It’ll be very interesting to see how many third-party characters show up in the next Smash Bros. games. Right now, we don’t even know if Snake and Sonic will be returning!

Kawazu working on an unannounced RPG

Akitoshi Kawazu, the producer of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers, is working on an unannounced RPG. The news comes from issue 258 of Nintendo Power, though the magazine didn’t have any additional information to share. There is only small note that states his next game “remains a secret for now, but you can bet it won’t play things safe.”

Even though we’re hearing about this through a Nintendo publication, it doesn’t necessarily mean the project will end up on a Nintendo platform. Still, one would think that it’s likely that Kawazu will work on the Wii again, or possibly the 3DS in the future.

Rhydon was the first Pokemon ever created

If you were to ask someone what the first Pokemon ever created is, you’d probably receive answers such as Pikachu and Bulbasaur. In actuality, however, Rhydon – the 112th Pokemon registered in the Pokedex – was created first. That little factoid comes from Ken Sugimori, one of the original designers of the first generation of Pokemon titles.

That does make sense, as Rhydon’s data can be found first in Red/Green. Also, this explains the statues that you see when you first step into a gym in Pokemon Red/Blue. The icon doesn’t look like Rhydon completely, but it’s pretty darn close!

Modern Warfare Wii graphics are “stunning,” says producer

As things stand, most gamers have to judge the visual quality of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare on Wii based on the first screenshots that were released. No official trailer or gameplay video has been shown yet, so the general consensus of the graphics hasn’t been too positive at all. Still though, Modern Warfare Wii executive producer Daniel Suarez is sticking to his guns. He claims that the graphics in the title are “stunning.”

“So, a lot of things have been done in terms of the visual fidelity. We’ve optimized the engine to get a lot more performance out of it. Improved texture quality so the visuals are really really stunning on the Wii and they look great.”


North American DSi systems to have free DSi points

Currently, all DSi systems in Japan come with 1,000 free points when the user connects to the DSiWare shop. There hasn’t exactly been any indication that the same offer would be available for North American systems – until now. Target has confirmed that all NA DSi owners will be able to spend 1,000 free points once the shop is accessed.

“Upon initial access to Nintendo DSi Shop, 1,000 Nintendo DSi Points will be credited to your account, which you can then use to download your free Nintendo DSi-exclusive games and applications. Wireless broadband connection and acceptance of user agreement required. Nintendo DSi Shop must be accessed to receive free points.”
