Ubisoft on making Rayman Legends multiplatform, game's delay

Rayman Legends is now officially a multiplatform game. Ubisoft and Nintendo had been promoting the title as a Wii U exclusive, but Ubisoft announced today that releases on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 are planned as well.

Xavier Poix, managing director of Ubisoft’s French studios, explained the decision to IGN:

If the delay isn't caused by the porting (and thus simultaneous multiplatform release) I'll eat my shoe. Damn you, Ubi. And Nintendo for not being on the ball and losing another exclusive. I'm certainly not in a hurry to pick up a Wii U now.

It really makes no sense to me. Is the Wii U version simply not ready? If it is ready, it should be released, not 6 months later. I guess we don't know the details, but if Ubi knew that doing all three versions would take longer, they shouldn't have set a firm release date for Wii U. Really, really disappointing.

I was really looking forward to this game. Now I have to wait another six months? That is lame of them to take something special away from a brand new system and give it to everyone else.

This has got to be one of the stupidest choices I've ever seen a game company make. Ubisoft, if the game is already finished for Wii U, there's NO NEED to delay it just because you now wanna release it for PS3/360 and you want a "simultaneous release"!

If the game is finished, release it now for Wii U and then release it later for the other consoles when the ports are done like other companies do. Don't make Wii U owners pay for the desires of the owners of other consoles. I'm just completely disgusted by this decision. I bet the demo is gonna get removed from the eShop just like the 3DS demo of Rayman Origins was removed when the port was delayed. =w=

Forst nintendo delays a lot of their first party games and now this!? This was the one game i thought i could count on, to come out before march. Get your act together ubisoft! Your better than this

As for why they would delay it on Wii U, probably marketing reasons? Now they only have to market it once on all platforms instead of separately, saves half the marketing costs. Of course, now they're going up against GTA (if that isn't delayed)...

I'd say the biggest reason they are bringing it is because they don't trust that the Wii U version would fly off the shelves sales wise, but I doubt the 360/PS3 versions won't either.

I don't see why it wouldn't. It's THE Rayman game that everyone's been looking forward to.
