Earlier today, EA announced the next entry in the Need for Speed franchise - Need for Speed: Rivals
. Unfortunately, there are no plans to bring the game to the Wii U at this time.
Ghost Games' founder and Rivals producer Marcus Nilsson told Eurogamer that "Frostbite is not really set up for Wii U." EA confirmed in its announcement that the racer is being built on the Frostbite 3 engine.
"Yeah, Frostbite is not really set up for Wii U. I don't have all the information, so it wouldn't be right for me to speak about it. Frostbite 3 is a really capable engine, it's scalable and it gives us a big advantage on the next generation to support the Xbox One and the PS4, but it's not being developed on the Wii U."
A shame that we won't be seeing this one on Wii U. You could argue that Most Wanted was best on Nintendo's system last year out of all console versions, so it would have been nice to see how Rivals turned out.
